U. S. Drought Monitor - April 26, 2011

Linked below is this week's U. S. Drought Monitor Map which reflects data received through 7 a.m. Tuesday.

If you want to see any state more close-up, just click on that state and you'll get the regional map. Once you get the regional map, click on the individual state you want to see.

For Oklahoma, you'll see that the drought conditions have improved in some places and not in others. Just as drought does not develop quickly, it also generally does not go away very quickly. If rains continue to fall, we'll see continued slow abatement of the drought conditions.

In a portion of Oklahoma, conditions worsened. For example, a small part of southwestern Oklahoma moved into the Exceptional (D-4) category. I hope they receive rain there soon.
