What does/doesn't grow well in Oklahoma?

I know I am WAY early thinking about this, but I'm going to break ground on a new garden this fall and I've been daydreaming constantly about what I'm going to put in it and how I'm going to do the layout. Up to this point I've only done veggies and herbs in small containers and maintained a small foundation planting of fruit (1 raspberry, 1 blueberry, and the rest strawberries). All my other landscaping so far has been trees and flowering shrubs, so now that those are done the next big project is the veggie garden.

I'm hoping to draw on your experiences as far as what grows well in the central Oklahoma climate and red sandy clay soil. I will be adding a top layer of compost over cardboard this fall to prepare the beds, so I will be trying to improve the soil as much as I can.

Anywho, here's the list of what I want to try to grow, so if you see anything that doesn't do well here or if there are certain varieties I need to try, let me know!

Tomatoes (cherry and regular size)

Pole Green Beans

Yellow/Red Bell Peppers

Butternut and Yellow Summer Squash

Lettuce

Mint, Basil, and possible a few other herbs

Carrots

Onions and Garlic

Raspberries and Blueberries (more than the one of each I have already)

Cucumbers (hoping to find a variety I can grow on a trellis)

Peas

Broccoli

Asparagus
