Thank you again Ron for being such a gracious host. The weather was glorious, the food was excellent and the company was the best. I second Sue's comment that it's wonderful to meet people and talk plants without their eyes glazing over. I love walking in my garden and seeing all the plants I've gotten at these swaps through the years. I'll try to take pictures. Jo - I will bring Peony, Kniphofia, Allium tuberosum, and calamintha for you Hedy - wll bring Calamintha for you. I would be interested in the geranium and foxglove if no one has claimed these. Noticklish - Any Ajuga will be great! Sue - if you have time, I would like to try some Campanula. Does this tend to flop over or do you pinch it back? Are we bringing food/drinks? I would feel terrible if Ron showed up with burgers, etc. and all I'd show up with was inedible vegetation.... Liliane

We'll also be happy to take any extra empty pots anyone has. I'm gonna bake rye bread tonight, we'll bring that and some herb butter for it. Plantwise, some other items we are bringing in addition to the ribbon grass and tradescantia are: 1 Siberian Iris, dark purple 1 Lemon balm 4 Tansy plants some calendulas some red poppies Looks like it's going to be the perfect day tomorrow. Well, molie, I have some in full sun, some in almost full shade, and everywhere in between, as well as a big clump that I pulled out of the vegetable garden last fall (still trying to figure out how it got up into the raised cinderblock bed!) and that I just left out laying there all winter, and they bloomed just fine this spring! So I'd say pretty much anything is an optimum site for them, lol! Seriously, I don't think you can go wrong with these. I have some along a cinder block bed and the ground is mulched with wood chips. After a few years, I'm sure the rhizomes are covered way more than they "should" be, and the soil is probably damper than it "should" be because of this mulch, but they are doing fine there as well. By the way, for searching purposes, the name is Royal "Knight" with a "k". Now you've got me curious, and I think I'm going to look them up again as well! Dee P.S. Just remembered - during clean-up last fall I also literally threw a few rhizomes into the square hole of a cinderblock in my raised bed, and they took and bloomed in the spring too, after just lying there all winter. They are just a very hardy, hearty, and vigorous iris, but (IMO) not to the point of aggressiveness or annoyance, lol.
