A November to Remember

My West Olympia garden measured 26.4" of rain for the calendar month. Average for Oly is 8.15" for November

Low temp for the month was 20 degrees F. Normal low temp for Oly is 35 degrees F.

No snow until the 26th, not the earliest or most snowfall by a long shot.

Most intense rain was 11.3" over 4 days, the 4th through the 7th. Most rainfall for one day was 4.8" on the 7th. Record for me was 5" on Oct. 20 '03, although that was a different garden a bit farther west. Official record for Oly is 4.33" on Nov 19 '62.

And through it all my plants are completely unfazed. The roses are still green and a couple still have new flower buds. Even some truly deciduous stuff is still green, like a bridal wreath spirea and one of two variegated weigelas. The golden abelia is untouched. My garden never flooded, nothing looks stressed, nothing that shouldn't be is frozen or damaged. I have tons of birds. Even the pansies are still blooming. And no slugs!
