I purchased a Purple Haze Hosta from Bob two weeks ago. I received a wonderful sized plant in excellent condition. It has alread shot out 2 new leaves. I must say that I am very satisfied with my Hosta Library Auction plant.

Let's see... Don't be fooled by that young foliage on First Love - that is a reversed montana Aureomarginata - I'm not sure how it is different from On Stage. This is a Marco Fransen plant (so how come it isn't Paradise something?!) and he doesn't register his. I grow his Paradise Backstage - which is a reversed On Stage - which didn't end up looking like montana Aureomarginata... complex - nonetheless it should be a large plant with large leaves... and will probably take some time to get there as montanas tend to be a little slower than some other hostas... Pathfinder... another of the Patriot clan... they all have the good white and dark green contrast... Olympic Sunrise - a fun one from the Halcyon clan. Olympic is the naming for hostas originated by the Naylor Boyz. I gave Gary a hard time when they took it out of their catalog - he said they just have to make room for the new ones each year. It is different from the rest of the clan... coloring not too different from Paradise Joyce or maybe Katherine Lewis... but left alone the leaves get enough larger that casual observers will not place it in the family. Ah... Heat Wave. It will be lovely - truly beautiful! But... I've been growing tokudamas for at least 20 years... and every few years they produce one they say is a faster, stronger grower. Bright Lights was supposed to replace Tokudama Aureonebulosa because it is a faster grower. I didn't find it to be noticeably faster - but it is easier to sell with that name than with the TA name. So Heat Wave is supposed to be a stronger grower than Bright Lights. With the wider margins, there might be some truth to that. It is a lovely plant - but mine has been tokudama-slow. Great Escape - slow, slow for me... Dream Weaver - slow, slow for me... all worth growing... here is wishing you some patience!

Waaaaaa, wailing here in despair because I can't join in! Aside from waiting for Bruce's Aphrodite to bloom, this is the most anticipated thread for me since it involves some serious hosta shopping, lol. You all scored BIG ... I'm so looking forward to pics, please? Jamie...how lucky for you to get a Sleeping Star..I kind of remember a post about it...have it on my want list. I also have a new June Spirit...it'll be nice to compare growing notes. :-) FF...you said you were already growing Cold Heart...I missed out on it this year as it was sold out..."lime colour with corrugation" got my heart racing...is it doing well in your garden? I would really love to see a pic of it if at all possible, please? All of you on this thread sound like the "A Team" of Acquisitions!!! Bk I am so new to this I got some seeds from a nice lady on this site (Joan), ebay and my new H. Frances Williams. I havent planted them all yet. I have viewed the old post from bernd, ken and others in this forum about Hostas and seed planting and I think I am going to be overwhelmed. Luckily I am going to get two t8 grow light fixtures and my cousin has built me a shelf from pallets to put them on. I love doing this. My first set of seeds from ebay didn't do anything so I set them outside. Now I have two grocery store plastic food containers with about 11 seedlings in them. Not nearly enough for what I want in my back yard (and give to my sisters) but they are coming along. This is just so much fun to watch them grow. Cant wait to show pictures of my back yard in the next year or two.
