quinnfyre, yes the alata is still blooming. The plant has about 20 spikes on it that each rebloom several times so don't cut the 'dead' spikes off. It also has a bunch of cute seed caps as well. The way I grow my little Pleuros is I use those clear plastic $1 shoeboxes (toss the lid). They have enough height to hold in humidity, and the plants are only 1" to 4" tall anyhow. I put the plants in groups into plastic vanda baskets, 6" mostly, which keeps the plants from continually falling over and also holds them up above the bottom of the box where water tends to accumulate. This way, I can keep about 1/4" of water in the bottom to raise the humidity up a bit more than the 50% the greenhouse runs without keeping the plants soggy. To water, pick up the two baskets, hose the plants off, and return to the shoebox. The boxes (I have about four of them) are put to the side of the shoplights on a dim shelf at the back of the GH. They don't need very bright light. I am only using the vanda baskets because I have a stack of them; I didn't buy them for this purpose. Anything else can be used that fits the same type of description; the housewares department in stores have all kinds of possibilities. This is what my baskets look like. It's been a while since I posted photos and now I know why...it takes me so much time to download them to the computer then upload them to Photobucket, etc...Photobucket doesn't like my browser so I had to try 3 different ones before it would work. "Seashell" rose Meyer lemon Gaillardia Tudor rose starry rosinweed April tomatoes Coleus Coleus Blooming pots begonia HD "Carnation" rose cuttings OK these are not "blooming" but it's the first time I have been successful with rose cuttings. Someday they'll be big enough to trade for other OGR's :) The photos below are not in MY garden but from Fenders Orchids near me where I began my love of orchids 2 weeks ago. I bought 3 there and some mail order from Orchids of Maui (not pictured). I never knew orchids had such FRAGRANCE. One of mine smells like sweet cloves and the other like roses. Thanks to linda_leaf for the heads up on Fenders in Venice and adding another dent in my garden budget. I only got to take a few photos before my camera battery died. Great place. They do their own hybrids and the lady that checked me out (Susan Fender?) had orchids with her name in them. Now that is a piece of eternity, a flower named after you.

Hi Not mine but a neighbors Magnolia is covered in flowers ,usually just a few every now and then.. Azaleas were fantastic in March My evergreen caladiums are coming back HOORAY lol The gesneriads are looking gorgeous after being dormant for two months . Epidendrum orchids seem to have appreciated the cold while they always bloom for me this year at least 3 times as many. Two that the jury is still out .Schizolobium parahyba. Cassia roxbrughii. First completely defoliated while second turned an ugly brown, See a bit of green but no flowers yet again I'm afraid.. Going to have to cut the Schizy down as it's pushing 30 feet and the hurricanes are comuing . Was hoping to see one flower?? Lol My "hedge" that i started with 5 species of Vanda orchids between two palm trees seems to have made it but aborted spikes on the strap leaf while the teretes are pushing a few buds . I added some epidendrums ,spathiglottis at the base at the base hopefully providing a few flowers . all the vandas are growing new roots so obviously hanging on. Phals ,dropped some buds but will have a few (I think) lol. water hyacinths and water lily are flowering like crazy They died completely down this year for the first time . Lost all the fish in main pond that I've had since 82 . Guess this will give me chance to start over with either an albino or lutino strain. have 3 aroids that still have not sprouted again but still seem firm ,so maybe?? Weeds are doing fantastic!!! I was worried about a couple of them lol gary

Cheapo huh! I had several DLs that I had bought and I loved them. My daughter had gotten into DLs and wanted to be very generous with me---and she wouldn't let me pay for them.
