Puzzled...

One of my many tasks over the weekend was to transplant some of my warm season veggies into larger containers. They were originally growing in straight seed starting mix and I transplanted them into a 50/50 seed starting-compost mixture...

I would say roughly 90% of them died and I have no idea why. I transplanted peppers, eggplant, tomatoes, zucchini, and cucumber and al but the peppers died. Could it have been the compost? I used the cotton burr compost that you normally see at big box stores like lowes and home depot. It smelled pretty manure-ey if that's a word. All I can think is that it had too much nitrogen and it burned all of them?? They were all healthy happy plants before that had just been watered that morning...

Anybody have any thoughts? I'm truly puzzled and disappointed. I guess i'll be buying transplants to replace them.
