East sun, or morning sun, should be fine for them. They may get a little ratty looking when hot weather sets in, but watering them regularly and afternoon shade should help, and because they will be new plants, they will take a bit more water to get them established anyway.

Both of these are H. villosa parentage, which is a more heat tolerant heuchera than others.

Well-drained, humousy soil, and mulch is best. Mulch because heucheras tend to "heave" out of the soil during our freeze/thaw cycles in winter.

I attached a link to Tony Avent's site which includes both of the heucheras you mention as great for the south, among others, just for informational purposes.

I grow Raspberry Swirl, which does great in my garden. Also have heard that Amethyst Mist does well in Oklahoma.

Thanks for the information...... I have done some reading on them and about H. villosa . Some of the nursery people here told me that they will have the best color when grown in some sun ( like the east side ) so I think they will be ok for the most part. They are not the cheapest plants and I need 6 - 12 of them so before I spend that kind of money I was just looking for some advice from a gardener and not somebody trying to just sell a plant. I have never grown this plant and just looking for some help.

I have killed so many heucharas, it is not even funny. I grow/grew them in my hosta beds in mostly shade. Here is a list of the ones I have killed.

Some of these heucheras died in drought years, a couple died in flood years, and like Susan said, a couple of them heaved out of the ground over winter. I still have 2-3 varieties, but since they're not up yet, I can't remember which they are, but they're definitely heat tolerant varieties. I have given up on growing heucheras, and I consider myself a fairly experienced gardener. I have also killed many Tiarellas and have just decided these plants are far more happy in a cooler, wetter climate than I have in my gardens. You may have far better luck than I've had, but I wouldn't invest a lot of money the first couple of years until you see how well they will grow for you. Good luck!

There are a lot more new heucheras on the market now, Dawna, so maybe he will have better luck. I, too, have killed my share of them. One I have that is doing fine, but is rather plain looking, is one I grew from seed. They all look a bit sad, lose some of their coloration, in the heat of the summer - so they do prefer cooler conditions that they get in my hot back yard, but it is shady at least. The east sun should be okay for the OP, but I wouldn't dare give them any more sun exposure than that.

I might have to try one of the newer hybrids just to see if they are better equipped as they are touted to be, for our weather! LOL! Where is that adventurous spirit, Dawna? I know it's in there somewhere.

I don't even have any more elephant ears now. The upright Alocasia came back very much a wimp last year, so probably will not even make an effort this year. I haven't really tried to be nice to it, tho. I'm sure the tree roots have strangled the tubers by now!

The heuchera I have had the best luck with have been ones that I have neglected horribly. I put one 6" pot on top of a raised bed to see how it would look. Well two years later it is still in the pot and rooted will through the bottom-it is my best looking heuchera.
Then there is the one that is about 2 feet across that I planted as an afterthought in a planter on the back porch when it was just a couple of leaves. Then there is the one I pulled out of the pot and put it on the ground about a year ago. It is doing fine just sitting on top of the soil with no pot!
Now the ones that I planted in good soil, watered and treated with TLC turned up their toes and croaked.
I believe these plants do well with several hours of sun (morning is wonderful for everything isn't it?) and good, good drainage. High is good and don't overwater.

I think they will do fine in the spot I was going to plant them. Its a little higher in the bed and I was thinking about amending the soil in the the planting holes. I normally do not do this for any plant ! but after doing more reading on them I see that they are very shallow rooted plants that like humsy soil so I thought that the light the soil is in the area the better and and that may also be true about yours living in the pot at the top of the bed.
