Identify Bird Nest Philodendron for Scientific Name
Comments (2)That one had a very pretty leaf but this one has a leaf that stands three to four feet. The spathe that it produces is about four+ feet and produces a fire engine red seeds that pop when the plant pushes them out to produce another baby. I'll take a look at Aroids to get a bit closer. Comments (2)Crazy Mockers! My goodness, I have scads of them here this year. I have 2 pairs nesting in the yard about 150 feet apart. That is amazing to me because they are so territorial. There are lots of squables between them, but they press on. One of my males goes to the top of a telepone pole and constantly jumps up and down while he sings. Comments (2)In knowing a bit about birds, I can tell this bird is a woodpecker. That led me toward the ID quite easily, even without knowledge of Costa Rican species. See the link I provided to find it. Perhaps you could verify that this website has the species named correctly, as I only spend a few seconds on this.
