Leycesteria Formosa- Himalayan honeysuckle

My Himalayan honeysuckle has really grown it's second year in the ground. It is now 7+' tall. It is a strange plant with hollow stems and flowers in bracts that enclose the edible berries. I have been getting some berries from it and they really do taste like burnt caramel with the emphasis on burnt. But I have tried cooking them, straining the seeds and skins, and adding cornstarch, milk, butter, vanilla, and sugar to make a pudding with them, and they really taste like caramel pudding. The deer try to eat them so here is a photo of the plant in a wire cage and with bamboo placed around it to keep deer away-
