cottonseed meal for blueberries
Comments (12)Because my post about urine fertilizer has so far been ignored I shall elaborate. I am a professional nurseryman and fruit tree arborist who grows just about everything on my property. When other gardeners, including other professionals come to my place they are usually completely blown away by the productivity of my vegetable garden, the vigor and beauty of my annual flowers- the size of everything! ( I live in deer country so I try to grow the most vigorous varieties of evertything- from tomatoes to zinnias). I won't bother to mention my orchard. My only fertilizers are compost and urine. My blueberries are extremely productive as well, by the way. I dose them in Nov and mulch them in spring. I am dead serious that Americans have to stop being such glutonous pigs and buying products to serve every whim. Every unnecessary product you purchase is a sin of excess and an afront to the planet. Of course, no ones perfect and a little indulgence is alright but can we try to stop being such idiots- buying bottled water and coddling our plants with materials that can be replaced with stuff in our own neighborhoods, yards, kitchens and BATHROOMS....See MoreCottonseed meal - broadcast spreader setting
Comments (4)Texspot, CSM will work, it is just very hard to work with IMO. Since SBM is about the same price, slightly higher protien content, and works just like a commercial fertilizer I suggest it over CSM. Only downside of SBM is the smell after a day or two when it begins to rot. Has that gym sock odor for a few days, or kind of a sour smell that something ain't right. Other than that it is about the only thing that is ecconomical and works on Bermuda from the grain family....See MoreQuestion about Cottonseed Meal
Comments (15)and is not acceptable to most organic growers. As determined by who, exactly? It is most certainly advocated by numerous organic gardening websites and organizations and is also approved - with conditions - by OMRI. About the only growers who might have a legitimate issue are those who are certified organic. Certainly a large population of home gardeners who follow organic principles include it in their supplies. And why GE'd crops should necessarily be excluded from discussions of organic gardening should also be up for discussion. There is nothing inherently evil about GE'd plants. In fact, one of the primary reasons crops are genetically engineered is to make them resistant to certain diseases and insects so less chemical intervention is required. That is most definitely the reason behind cotton being included in this category. We would all be a lot better off if we took the time to do some independent research rather than the blind adherence to a popular but uninformed point of view. Let's use a little independent thinking, folks!! btw, the PBS program Quest: The Science of Sustainability had an extremely informative program on genetic engineering recently that should be required viewing for anyone with question about this topic. Since I deal with the public on matters like this, it never ceases to amaze me how woefully misinformed or uninformed the vast majority of the general public is....See MoreWhere to buy conttonseed meal, fish meal
