Nice looking tree. Like Centurion said, it depends based on the variety. Some varieties only produce figs on the previous year's growth. Some only produce figs later in the season and have trouble ripening them when the tree is still young. But there are lots of varieties that will ripen main crop figs on young plants like yours. The fact that it has been growing strong is a good sign. It also helps that you're in a long season climate. There's a good chance you could get some figs from it this year. Keep your fingers crossed. The figs will first start to show as a small bump above where the leaf attaches to the branch. Usually it takes about 2 to 3 months from when that bump first appears to when there are ripe figs. Good luck. Joe

Mike, you really don't need to dig up much of the rootball if you want to try the mulch-in-a-plastic-trashbag method of storing over winter. The main woody roots will be fine and most of the feeder roots you lose by shaking off the soil will most likely die off during winter anyway, to be quickly replaced in spring. I shook about 75% of the soil off mine (only 3+ year-old seedlings and established rooted plants, no newly rooted!) and put about 8 in one bag, tied it tight and just left it in a trash can with rags in the bottom. A couple of the big boys I just pulled out of the ground without even digging and put into pots with some soil or mulch. If you cover the remaining roots in the bag with mulch you probably don't even need to add any water over winter. I used no mulch so I added just a half cup twice over winter. Come April when I checked inside the bottom of the bag there were new feeder roots growing in the little remaining soil at the bottom. Pretty amazing, really!

So, I'm narrowing it down. They're probably not Gota de Miel because they're not really plum shaped, and probably not Sara Goldstar because they're not that large. I can't find a picture of Marizol Magic, but since it says it's a determinate, I'm thinking that's probably not it, since these are grown for market, and for some reason, I don't equate determinates as being typically grown for commercial production, although I'm probably totally wrong. I couldn't find anything about Marizol Gold Cherry at all, although there seems to be a Marizol Gold tomato that's not a cherry. So, that leaves a regular bi-color cherry, Isis Candy, and Gajo de Melon, but all the descriptions seem larger than these. Hopefully my tomato guy will have a name for me next week, but if not, at least I'll have seeds of something I know I enjoy!

ok for firewall you only ever want to have one firewall enabled and running so if you have and use the CA personal firewall then you need to go to your security center in control panel and turn off your windows firewall. Antivirus programs you can only have one of those active and running at one time and I think you mention 3, ez armour-computer associates,CA=Internet security suite which if it is a suite will normally have and antivirus as well as the firewall, and PC Care (not sure if this one is an antivirus?) If you are using the CA Internet security suite and have their antivirus program active, running and getting daily updates for you and you have it set up to scan your pc weekly then you need to not be using any others they will conflict. So make a decision on what you are going to use and get that ONE going properly, updated and scanning. Malwarebytes antimalware and superantispyware are 2 of the best anti malware programs available now so you do want to keep those, you want to always hit update on them prior to running the scans, let it get the updates, run full scan and let them clean what ever they find. Having more than one of this type of program (antispyware) is ok, and since you are manually doing the scanning they are not running full time. When it says it adds fingerprints that means things it has added to its data base to look for, the nasties in other words which is why you must update it each time so it can get all the new info on all the new nasties that come out daily. ATF is an excellent program and yes you do need to use it, if you have more than one browser be sure you pay attention to do it for each. Many here use CCleaner, it does much the same as ATF, just don't use the registry cleaner features on any programs you might have. It sounds like you may have some of these programs on your pc but you do not have them set up and running ??? and if as you said you did malwarebytes scan and it found the rougue antispyware infection, depending on exactly what name it gave, some of those can be pretty serious. So I would go ahead and run the malwareytes (update it) a few more times and be sure you select to remove all!!
