Comments (2)Epsom salts are Magnesium sulphate... You get mixed results by Google because the only people it helps are the ones that have a Magnesium deficiency.... This would be a good time to get a soil test -- California has a pretty strong Agricultural program... University extension offices shouldn't be too hard to find... As Texas Weed asked... Do you have a Magnesium deficiency in your soil or a soil PH problem that would bind it all up? Thanks John...See Moreepsom salt
Comments (10)About 1 week ago, I sprayed a solution of 1 TB Epsom salts per gallon of water on my tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, cucumbers, all my herbs (excluding sage), my hostas, as well as all my roses and flowering plants. The most amazing result was on my phlox. They had begun showing signs of powdery mildew, and the leaves of one clump were curling and flecked with rusty spots. Now, however, the curling has disappeared and most of the leaves have regained a healthy green color, except for a few bottom ones which were probably too far gone. I'm sure that the other plants benefitted from the spraying also and I will be repeating it again in about a week....See Moreneed advice, Roebi with a magnesium Def.
Comments (3)You need to check soil pH before applying dolomite. If you're already alkaline it will make it worse. That's when epsom salts (magnesium sulphate) is better as it doesn't affect soil pH. So once you know where your pH stands you can confidently pick one or the other. And that's a great article on Mg deficiency....See MoreDifference between epsom salts and aluminum sulphate
Comments (1)Emsom salt (Magnesium sulfate: MgSO4ÂE7H2O) and Alminum sulfate (Al2(SO4)3). You should be able to find difference by testing with litmus paper; epsom salt solution (in water) is neutral, and aluminum sulfate solution is acidic. Besure to use distilled water to make solution....See Morelilydude
