New Member - Brandy New Garden

Howdy all,

I've been lurking here for a long time (the home forums have been a wonderful source also...). Anyway,

We just moved into our new home, which means we just left established gardens at the old one. Here we are in the middle of a dry January. I have our raised bed frames moved - as well as the soil from them, so no probs there.

But...I need a strategery for the new big garden. We are rural, have chosen a spot, have small tractor, lotsa manure available and all the advantages one could have - but time. The spot is a place where the old residents had a (poor) horse, basically worn out (read little bermuda left, but packed).

What do ya'll think. Plow right now with as much organic stuff as we can get in, and then rototill as soon as possible with more organic? That's my thinking. Deal with weeds and the rest as they come? or use a pre-emergent (not! or maybe)

Taters go in in 60 days (whoopie!!!), ain't got much time.

Thanks, Kai
