I made a good/ bad hosta move today

Well I decide to move my Sagae today, its been stuck at 1 eye for 4 years..or so.. I have it in a good spot, but I wanted to move it into a slightly more centered spot, about 1 foot further away from some roses.

Well when I dug it up I made my mistake...the roots had spread out much further than I had guessed, I must have cut 3 inches off of the roots about halfway around the plant. however after digging it up it became obvious I had either planted a little deep or it had sunk. Either way i loosened up the soil a little on the roots, and added some compost to the soil..and stirred it in good.

So the good news it is now replanted at a better depth, and I took the sliced off root bits and put a few around the plant, and a few in some small pots...

hopefully I didn't set myself back ..the roots were really spreading, but deep enough I guess they wern't sending up new eyes...
