Hosta vs. Salty Snow Runoff

I have a spot in my front lawn that I've been building up with hostas and sweet spire. The east side of this spot is adjacent to my driveway (on the attatched pic, the driveway is at the bottom).

During the Nebraska winters, a lot of salt and gravel settles around the fence currently covered with mulch (just above the driveway in the pic). I know hostas are hearty, and I don't like having such a large 'blank' spot in the front yard. Would a hosta do well here and survive the winter abuse?

John
