Just thought I'd mention that my local Wally World (and, I assume yours) has #1 size bare root roses available for $4.78 each, both hybrid tea and floribunda types. These are not the latest and greatest varieties, but the old, tried-and-true ones. I am just starting a rose bed along my foundation, so I picked up Mr. Lincoln, Peace, Olympiad, Granada and Queen Elizabeth. It was raining on Friday, the plants had just arrived, and I was the only person in the outdoor section (is this a bad sign?), so I had my pick of the litter. They had # 1 & 1/2 for even less at under 4 bucks each, but where else could I buy five #1 roses for less than 24 dollars? They were/are all solid plants with multiple shoots and no dead spots and were nicely packaged. I will go back this week and see if there are any other ones I want.

If you are looking to pick up a few roses, either to start a bed or to fill in here and there, then this is a pretty good deal.
