We will definitely have native azaleas there to support the presentation on those. GNPS is actually the vendor for those, purchasing them directly from a nursery that specializes in native azaleas. We will have other vendors with a mix of plants: perennials, ferns, and shrubs. I think you could get a lot of plants there and enjoy the presentations as well. If you cannot make it there, the GNPS native plant sale (which is huge) will be April 21st at Piedmont Park. But I hope you can attend the symposium.

Most of these land-grant universities have good agricultural programs that assist the local communnities with information.

I now believe this is a Pityopsis graminifolia (Narrowleaf Silkgrass) and thankfully it is native. I probably repotted it in a soil mix that is too rich and moist and that's possibly why it hasn't flowered. Thanks for the posts!

Hey Ms Fbritches, Hi,....When I collect from native poulations, I stick with seeds. I never take many from any clump and I never collect from endangered species. I collect from land that is similar to mine. Sometimes I will take the seed and plant it on a bare spot close by and give it good seed to ground contact with a little loosening of the soil. The only time I have dug is when a developer was coming in with bulldozers. Sometimes I will go and speak to the buldozer operators and ask if he could take out some of the large nolinas for me and call me. We have developers around here that work with an arborist rescuing Texas persimmon trees. I force myself to stay away from the sun ferns here in Texas. I should learn about growing them from spores. Growing ferns intimidates me.
