On my list for next year.....

I'll admit it. I have already started my wish list for next year. LOL!

These are currently on my list and I would love to know what your experience has been growing any of them. Are they easy and low maintenance in your part of the world or do they need a little pampering to look great?

Thanks in advance for any info you can offer and I would love to see photos of any of them growing in your garden.

May I just add bit of rain to your parade?? LOL!
Eternal has been a disappointment.....wimpy, slow to grow and looks moth eaten too early in the season.
But...Dick Ward, given to me by a friend who's late husband was Dick Ward, is fabulous! This is it's second year in my garden and it just glows and has put out amazing growth in a little over a year. I can't wait until it gets those big rugose mature leaves!

Now, I like Eternal Flame but High Society seems wimpy to me - lol
My Dick Ward is young but coming along nicely.
And I really like Heatwave, nice and sturdy

Too many for my space, I'm afraid! I'd like to find room for a few more late bloomers, since that's a lack in my daylily collection so far, but they won't be newer ones this time around. I'll be looking for things like 'Broadway Pink Slippers' and 'El Desperado,' 'Damascan Velvet' and 'Duke of Durham.' A couple more Munsons might sneak in there somehow. My wish list is always really small. this year i bought a paradigm. 30 % off at a high priced nursury that has all of there hosta in alphabetical order (way cool!!) so i payed around $11.00 for it, and it had at least 8 eyes!! (was really excited!!) when i go to that nursury i dont take a cart with me because i know that i would fill it up!! so i only buy what i can actually carry. unfortunately the people there are so nice, they always want to run and get me a cart, but i tell them no, and then i just stuff my arms and fingers and toes with as many plants that i can possibbly carry and get to the register!! can you imagine what a sight i look like when i finally make it in line? my arms are aching and my back is killinmg me!! and the ever so nice girl at the register always says "sir, you do know that we have carts here dont you?" (i just laugh) and tell her that i am only allowed to buy what i can physically carry. all of there plants look great!! and all of the time!! (and so does there thyme) I was really hoping to find St Paul and Olive Bailey Langdon, so i settled for third place which was Paradigm! which I am sure that i am going to really like!! posting a pic of it if photo bucket doesnt kill my computer!! I like the yellow and white versions of the 7 Pot and Bhuts. A bit more mild and great taste. I will also give a great thumbs up to the Jamaican Scotch Bonnet. Great fresh and fruity flavor. Now if you like hot pepper jams, the Black Congo with Blackberries is hard to beat as well as Fatalii and Pineapple. Get enough peppers in there and either one will toast your bread for you! I agree as well on the Reaper, That one hits you fast and hard, but it does have a real nice taste for the few seconds you can taste anything.

Marion is my grow every year tomato. I know it will produce well if nothing else does! My Dad started growing them when they were released in 1960. He grew them every year of his life, until he couldn't garden any more. But I still planted and harvested them for him in the last 3 years of his life, he died in August 2010 at 88 years old! They produce 6 to 8 ounce fruit, not big, so it's a two or three slicer on a sandwich. Kind of acidic, which I like. They taste great to me fresh, frozen, and canned. They are excellent in homemade veggie soup and sauces. I have never had many problems with disease, a few cases of BER but not very often, Zero BER this year. I have had BER on everything but Marion some years. From Bonnie's website: "Marion tomato was developed in the South and released in 1960 to meet the challenges that heat and humidity that create, plant diseases and cracked fruit." Eternal Flame has been a strong grower for me...faster than High Society, but I like it, too.

Yes, it is Heatwave. And just about all my other hosta were ripped and scarred by hail, but this one didn't tear at all.

I have Hollywood Lights. It's only the 2nd year. Not fast but thick and promising. Warwick Comet, also 2nd year, has more than doubled (it was small to begin with). I'd get both of those again. WHERE ARE YOU GETTING SHADOWFAX???

This one has been on my list for a couple of years, and now that I am "gainfully" employed I feel I can justify a little splurge next spring ;-)

I've actually never ordered from them before, so I have no personal experience. However, when I had emailed them about availability of Shadowfax, I was told that they will have a few "nice sized plants" available for sale in the spring.

You can certainly email them and ask what sized plants they would be sending.

I don't have any of the ones you mention but I have ordered from NGP before and highly recommend them. I've been eyeing Shadowfax for a few years myself but haven't yet made the plunge.

My Holliwood lights came up late this year and so far have not grown much but maybe location is not favorable. High society is nice small hosta is coming along in its second year.
I have ordered several times from NGP and always got great looking plants, do not forget to send your list for gift plant I got mature multiple eyed L/s Kaleydoscope as my gift plant.
