I'd've answered your question if I could have given any good advice other than, "Read the one closest to your local area." Barring that, the one closest to the same climate. Other than that, what you evaluate depends on what's important to you. I was most interested in color (graduating from a not very disease resistant cultivar, anything would be better) and winter performance. If that data isn't available for one particular site, check others. And again, choose the closest geographically or the closest climatically depending on how far afield you have to go.

I somewhat agree with you kooshball, but they're out there. I spent a good amount of time last year looking for top NTEP performers (Faith, Cochise IV, Firecracker LS) that I used for a partial renovation. TTTF is somewhat of the unloved stepchild while KBG remains to be the favorite son in terms of seed sellers. If all else fails call the grower and they should be able to supply you with a distributor to meet your needs.

Guys, Thanks for the feedback! I was hoping that one of the "elite" Kentucky blue grass varieties would be able to handle a little drought. The K31 fescue is the main reason I want a new lawn. It got spot seeded in my lawn 10 years ago and now I want a new lawn w/o this type wide blade clumping grass. Yes, the K31 can take considerable amount of drought but IÂm seeking a high quality KBG lawn. I have enclosed a web site of the "elite" seed mfg in the US. Does anyone have experience with a KBG variety that looks great and is somewhat heat tolerant. http://lawnsmarts.com/viewtopic.php?t=267 I was not aware the perennial rye grass dies out during a drought! It Cisco Exectu-turf Sun mix contains a 60% rye mix and only 40% KGB mix. If the KBG goes dormant and comes back when the weather cools off or water is plentiful, than I OK with that, but would like to invest in a variety that can take a little more heat then the normal KBG variety. Does anyone have any experience in an elite KBG variety that can tolerate a considerable amount of drought? Considerable amount of drought means 10 days no water and 85% temperature. Thanks again! I agree that the benefits outweigh the disadvantages of the boonies. We only have 2 interent options, the phone company or Hughesnet (satellite), since although 60% of my town has cable we are in the 40% that doesn't. (Funny that all the selectmen's homes were covered, though.) We currently have Hughesnet, but they limit the amount of data to the point that 10 -15 minutes of video uses up our entire data for the day, and we aren't on the lowest data plan! Good thing we have laptops since we have to go elsewhere to download new software or updates. (They have an option to download between 2-7 AM, but it only works for Windows and we have Macs.) We are planning to try the phone company now that they have concluded their strike since our neighbor has better connection with them, especially at high volume times like 6-8 AM and 3-12 PM.
