Spring ephemerals in acid sand.

Have not even tried trout lily, Claytonia, Hepatica or others of the beautiful sorts that populate moist woods in North Jersey because my soil is so sandy and acid. I assume they would not thrive and would be a waste of time and money. Also, it seems strange that trout lilys are so costly in the catalogs.

I do not steal wildflowers from the woods, but can transplant Mitchellia, Gaultheria and even the 'spotted' wintergreen from places on my property to more noticeable spots. Might as well settle for what thrives here.
