I have columbine seeds-they are a cross between "Nora Barlow" and "Grandmothers Garden" an old fashioned short spurred type(drk purple). If you'd like to try there I will trade for your "Red Hot Poker" -B

I do pull oxalis as soon as I see it, and I was diligent on it last year, so it's so strange that there is so much of it, especially to find that it is MOST pervasive where I sprinkled my aquilegia seeds. And it looks like none of my Touchwood seeds sprouted, so that really sucks - money lost. Plus lost postage money on many of the seeds I traded for. I did find some sprouts I hadn't seen before in one bed yesterday after I went over the whole yard with a fine toothed comb, looking for any Aquilegia sprouts. I do have Canadensis plants from sowing seeds last summer that I got from a relative, and a plant division of Green Apples is blooming now, so I do have some. It's just sad to have lost so many seeds plus the money, and to have gotten hurt while gardening - my foot still hurts!

I'm in love with the columbines too. I have a mix of doubles and singles from a trade if you want to try them, last year I planted clementine, I have a rose color and a purple-ish color, they are blooming now I should have seeds soon. I can send you some of those too for some of the green apples. I traded like crazy for columbines last year and have alot of seedlings right now. I'd love to keep in touch for any new ones we can trade. The best way to start these is in milk jugs either winter sow or spring/summer sow. Please message me, thanks.

I'm another who's thinking of leaf miners, in particular the blotch leaf miner. When you hold an affected leaf up to the light, can you sort of see through it? Please click HERE to see what I'm talking about. Columbines are quite susceptible, as Arlene mentioned. Edited to add that mosiac virus is a VIRUS and that there is no cure. Fungicides are useless. Viruses are spread from plant to plant by piercing/sucking insects...leaf hoppers are a primary vector, but not the only one. Preventing plant viruses requires insect control. That and removing the entire plant.
