It's poisonous to just about anyone or anything other than pollinators. But still a very popular and widely planted shrub for the reasons given above - very tough, needs minimal maintenance and very drought tolerant.

I'm so sorry not to be able to take pictures. I don't have either a camera or phone that does that. I can clear up one mystery plant; Number 1 is a date tree. The only reason I know this is because when we returned from evacuating from Irma, there was a branch with fruit on it. Our neighbor identified it as dates, and when they ripened, they were dates. Number 2 has been identified as a castor plant. The seed pod looks like something out of a B scifi movie. I'll have to wait till Spring to see if number 4 is a redbud. It has lost all its leaves at this point. Number 3 had beautiful yellow flowers. Anyway, thanks for all the help.

The foliage isn't right for a gentian, I don't think. I do know the answer why you didn't see your post, or a possible answer. I can only see this post if I am on the Houzz version of Kitchen Table. If I am on the GardenWeb version, it's not there. The Houzz version is more persnickety and I don't like it as well, so when I realized I was on it, and went to find this post again on GardenWeb, I couldn't find it. Weird, but true. I've looked several times.

Agree with Bill that white mulberry is most likely. At any rate source trees are probably visible somewhere in the vicinity.
