Pink lady's slipper disease

My patch of C. acaule produced only about 50% of the normal number of plants this spring. In addition, several of those which came up suddenly went limp and have apparently died. I suspect Botrytis may be the culprit. My references say to apply a fungicide like Daconil. Has anyone had this problem? Is it better to try a soil drench or to do a foliar spray? I do have some isolated plants in other areas but would certainly like to correct the problem which has caused the loss of about l5 plants!
