my bad--Dutchman's breeches and trillium

My bad, my awful--between shuffling around packing and driving out to see a friend in Philly, visiting my Mom after her knee surgery and buying a wedding present, I didn't plant the red trillium and Dutchman's breeches plants I bought baggies of at my local nursery. Now, things aren't looking happy to say the least. The 2 little sprouts from the D.b. are tending towards crispy and I don't even know what if anything will come from the trillium though I'm trying anyway, putting both in pots with indoor potting soil and the peat they came in and giving them a good soak. Help! What, if anything, can I do (other than go back to the nursery like an idiot and chalking it up to learing experience)? Thanks for any help.

I think that chalking it up to experience is the best that you can do. Big boxes as well as family-run nurseries have been selling wild-collected, bareroot, wildflowers in the little baggies every Spring and Fall. The species that you mentioned have both bloomed here. Very doubtful that they were held in cold storage. They are so cheap that most people don't go back to get their money back.
I buy only wildflowers that are established in pots. I only buy from growers that are reputable. They cost more than the bareroot stuff but its like anything else, you get what you pay for.

Not that this helps...but we have dutchman's britches growing in our pastureland, as well as white trilliums, Mayapples, dogtooth violets, something we called Sweet William (which appears to actually be mountain phlox?), and the most adorable bluebells. I'm attempting to cultivate some triliums (from purchased starts) in a shady spot in one of my gardens. So far I've been successful - they sprouted this spring, without blooming. I'm hopeful for some unique blooms next year. Eventually I hope to also cultivate the bluebells and dutchman's britches in appropriate spots as well. Here's hoping. -jaz. Gr

Thanks for the compliments and identification. :D I guess I have to wait for the plants to bloom to finally identify them. Dutchman,s Breeches, Squirrel Corn, Fringed Bleeding Heart. All look extremely similar. And now I am in the hunt for my pictures of the trillium and bloodroot when they were in bloom. So, I'll be posting more pictures soon! And more when I visit the park which I got my inspiration from.
