Wow! I wish mine looked like that! I made the mistake of buying a "mature division" (yeah right) from an online source Hosta's Direct, and definitely did not get what I paid for! The "mature division" came as 2 leaves with 2 inch long roots! Never will go there again! I can only hope mine will still grow and be as beautiful as yours is! :)

This is a previous post from ken...credit goes to ken_adrian hosta that are out of the orinarily slow may be planted too deep .... dig up the whole root ball .... heave it as high as you can ... right back into the same hole .... and make sure the top of the crown is right at ground level .... it will take off like a rocket ... or you will find out it is dead ... the near death experience is said to trigger hormone release.... a growth stimulant ... banyai told me [pauline of gold standard fame's son] that he would scrape puny hosta across cement to scar the roots ... thereby stimulating it ... he walked around my yard one summer and pointed to 20 hosta that were underperforming ... and told me they were all planted too deep ... he was right ... lift them up .. and they will take off ... do NOT be gentle ... In addition to the points made already, I fear you may have over-simplified the growing from seed process. ;) but tomatoes planted 3 to 4 weeks early on the windowsill and planted up to their necks(which I always thought made spindley plants a non issue) seems easy enough is far from an ideal approach to growing from seed. The many discussions here and on the Growing from Seed forum on the problems associated with that approach would seem to support my claim. While I'm glad that works for you, it doesn't for many. Especially for those of use who grow far more than just a few plants. Wintersowing your tomato plants would be more productive and even easier but even that simple approach intimidates some. So they buy plants and "most" of those store-bought plants are just fine. Also consider that the majority of the common tomato pest and disease problems don't arrive with a store-bought plant. They are instead found in the soil where planted and even carried in on the air. So when it comes to planting them into the garden time, the risks for either - grown from seed or store-bought - are the same. Dave

pinkdaisy - I, too, have searched for it. Then I did a little search here in the forum... for a little more info on GP. I found a thread where Ken and others discussed the confusion between GP and Little Aurora: thread So, they may not be the same... or maybe they are... I have no idea. But Little Aurora certainly looks like it. And, I found that it is available near me at Made in the Shade. So, I may have to add one. FWIW.
