Is this dicentra?

Flower bud looks like a dicentra? I need to know whether to pull (invasive) or to let it spread. It came out of nowhere and in great numbers! Second pic is a blurry pic of its bud...strange shape!

Thanks for any input!

Its flower bud....blurry bud in the middle....please ignore red leaves...some kind of cherry...

Looks like a white form of Lamprocapnos spectabilis. Not native but not invasive either.

Yes, that is a bit confusing, as it seems to end abruptly in midsentence. But if Susan meant that she was looking for a yellow or blue flowering bleeding heart, Dicentra or Lamprocapnos species, then sadly she's going to be looking a long time. They don't come in those colors. But their distant cousins the Corydalis do and share similar growing conditions so may be a possible alternate choice for the bleeding hearts.

This post started eight years ago. I'm growing Dicentra scandens Athens Yellow which I purchased from a Nursery in North Carolina-called "Plant Delights". It's the third year I've grown them. My first set of four plants returned for a second year, after producing hundreds of yellow-heart-shaped flowers on six foot vines the first year. The second year crop was accidentally killed off by my neighbor who sprayed Round Up in an attempt to rid his yard of Poison Ivy (also a vine) . Killed my poor dicentras, too.So this is my third year, moved to a different spot. Mostly shady-but they are climbing a trellis I placed next to them. It's mid June and they seem okay, but no flowers yet. We've had an uinusually cool and rainy spring after a hard cold winter. I'm on the North Shore of Long Island New York, solid Zone 6. I got interested in Athens Yellow after having success growing Dicentra Spectabilis (pink and red flowers).

Thanks for the update. I did not feel up to much of anything on Sunday, just a little yard work, where it was not too soggy. Transplanting ajuga into wet ground. I have a lot of pain days due to recent knee surgery. I bought a Crimson Fans mukdenia last summer! It never had the fall color I was hoping for, but maybe that was because it was new. But still, it survived the winter in a bed where a lot died (lack of snow cover, I believe, or too much rain) . It was up earlier than almost anything else, and looks great.

A lot of these come from Asian sellers and they are all fairy tale plants :-) If these wildly colored varieties really did exist, do you not think you could find seeds for them locally? Or started plants at your local nursery? Blue strawberries - and all the other fantasy colored vegetables and flowers - simply do not exist and that is pretty darn easy to confirm if one takes the time to do some basic research........ There are also some recent threads that have discussed these seed scams. Jack Seeds is one of the biggest culprits and the web is full of complaints from duped customers. And even Etsy has been known to have unscrupulous purveyors on their site as well. Caveat emptor - buyer beware!!

Thank-you lycopus and elly! A bit confused...did Lamprocapnos used to be in the Dicentra genus? It is Lamprocapnos...flowers look like bleeding heart BUT it doesn't have the fern-like leaves of the true dicentra...I think that's what threw me :) ....and one more ? how did it get to me? Do squirrels/deer/birds eat the seeds? I am surrounded by woods...can't see my nearest neighbor, and this stuff didn't exactly choose the shadiest place to grow...but it looks ok...weird...I thought it needed to be in shade to grow!

Yes, it used to be called Dicentra spectabilis. It's not the same plant as Dicentra formosa or D. eximia, which as you noticed have more finely dissected leaves. Not sure how it got there but it is naturalized in many parts of North America.
