my path is driving me crazy

i know you can help! i inherited a garden with lots of brick paths in it. every growing season, they are chockful of weeds since i don't use roundup. pulling the weeds is tough because many times it is necessary to take up the bricks to get the roots out (which i won't waste time doing). i wouldn't mind the weeds so much except that they make a lot of seeds that start to take over the rest of the garden. is there anything i can plant inbetween the bricks that is native, groundcovery, and wouldn't mind being walked on? when violets grow there or anything else i think is native, i leave them, but the dandelions are far more numerous. is there just no way to win, or should i get one of those flamethrowers that scorches everything in its path?
