Recommendations please for GH instal

I am looking for a company in southern MA near Somerset..that will design/install and outfit a greenhouse... I need 3 quotes..can you recommend any one?

I have no experience with any local company so I can't comment. You might try attending the Rhode Island spring flower show (Feb. 18-21 http://www.flowershow.com/). They have several vendors' exhibits there. The New England Flower show usually held in Boston isn't happening this year. They are doing something in March spread between two buildings somewhere and calling it "The Boston Flower Show" instead, so I don't know what will be there.

I had a small single glazed fiberglass greenhouse years ago, and I would strongly recommend double (or even triple) glass or polycarbonate glazing in your climate. It will pay for itself in heating cost savings, trust me! It cost me a fortune to heat mine, and it was only 10x12 and that was using 1970's priced fuel! Also, the thicker walls mean better control of temperature with less fluctuation.

Thanks Bill.. I went to RI's show last year..it was nice. My partner in crime moved away so IDK if I will get there again.. I know there are a ton of vendors at these things..but am hoping for personal recommendations. And I have to have the paper work to the VA they are helping pay for it as therapy for my husband he is 100 Disabled PTSD vet.

The good news? There is a Boston Show this yr..

The blade is going to be the most important part of the saw. The laminate is HARD and you will not get good cuts with an inappropriate blade. 80 tooth may be overkill, we usually use 50-60 tooth that is a QUALITY blade - needs to be carbide tipped also. Freuds are decent, Forrest are better, but rather spendy. CMT are also very good blades. We have found the Freud seems to give us good enough cuts for the cost of the blade. Blade should run in the $50 plus and you can expect to wear the blade out. Depending on the size of the project, you may wear out a few. Also make sure to get the right blade, our sliding compound saw requires a blade with a 5deg negative angle. However, if all of your cuts are going to be covered up, you can get buy with not so nice cuts (more chipping of the surface) DH says he considers the power miter box to be the best tool for cutting laminate flooring. The Hitachi looks like a good unit, and if you don't have much in the way of long term building plans it is a good unit. It comes with a 24 tooth blade - good for cutting 2x4's. DH has had good luck with the Hitachi tools he has bought, and was impressed with the features this has for the price. Sure, it's not a Bosch, but you aren't paying anywhere near that price either! If you are going to be doing a lot of building in the future, you may want to invest more and get a slider. The widest board a 10" will cut is 6", but with a slider you can cut up to 12" wide board.

Flexible sill pan flashing or pre-formed sill pan (you and use both if you want to go over the top), jamb flashing, head flashing, flanged/new construction window, low expansion foam to fill any gaps, and a drip cap on the finished exterior.

Installing pool solar cover inside GH?

What I ended up doing is cutting the pool cover into strips 8" longer than my glazing. I then fished it behind my two shelves and cut slits where the shelves or supports go so that it could lay flat. With the extra 8" I have significant overlap between two pieces. I then ripped a plastic conduit which I attached horizontally just below my windows and continued fishing it up in the same manner. Currently excess material is hanging on my top shelf. Once I lock my back windows I will run it all the way to the ridge. Since I installed on my north wall I may leave this on year round as it is now and then roll up or down the last few feet for the winter. On the bottom I weighed down with small ripped sections of plastic lumber I had lying around. I selected to cut since I didn't want to remove my shelves and horizontal supports. So far I'm pleased. Also the Riga allows hex screws to be installed in each rib which I used to support the horizontal pvc. So nothing permanent changed for my Riga.

Ah, the need for three quotes for a bureaucracy, I know that well...

Have you tried posting on the Greenhouses & Garden Structures Forum for local references? (of course there's a Greenhouses & Garden Structures Forum, there's a forum for nearly everything).

The forum seems to be active so you may be able to get recommendations there. A greenhouse is a great idea for therapy!
