Surface sow or barely cover the seed, some light may be beneficial to germination. When surface sowing, its good to press the seed onto the soil, or mist it down with water so the seed makes good soil contact. It looks like germination of these is erratic, meaning not all seeds will germinate at the same time. The number of weeks could be highly variable, taking from less than a month after temps warm slightly from the moist chill, to several months. If you have a spot with bright indirect light for the pots, place them there.

Mugwort will spread aggressively by underground stolons as well. It can really take over an area! I would confine mugwort to its own bed or area. Then, be attentive to plucking out strays - and follow those stolons underground. Often, they will be more than 2 foot away from the plant from whence it sprang.

Many perennial plants have substanial roots that will resprout after you cut the tops. I am not familiar with Mugwort but it sounds like one of these plants. Any plant can be removed by dugging out as much of the roots as possible, then pulling any shoots that appear. If you get most of the roots (you can never get ALL of the roots) then the shoots that appear should be small and easaily pulled. It may take a bit of digging and you might have to go 2 feet or more deep, but this method will work if you really try to get all of the roots and carefully clean up volunteers afterward. I wouldn't try to plant anything in the space until a couple of months after you dig the roots. That will allow time to be sure you get most of the volunteers that pop up.

I just received the most WONDERFUL box from Miss Sue! It was so big, it took 2 kids to carry it. :) And MERCY, I just about fell out of my chair when I saw how much it cost to mail! Prices are getting ridiculous!! I tried to keep track of everything as I unwrapped them, but I had 4 little helpers (the girls helped me...the boys couldn't have cared less- they know they're going to be recruited to help plant later on! LoL!) so I didn't get everything written down. But everything looks great, nothing is wilted! Which was SO surprising, considering the heat! I know there were 2 mini roses, red & blue salvia, many daylilies, 6 succulents, dianthus, lantana, rosemary & lavender. The rosemary & lavender made the box smell SOOOO good! If I've forgotten to mention anything, please forgive me! Thank you SO MUCH, Miss Sue! You outdid yourself with a WONDERFUL box, and I absolutely LOVE everything!
