ok.. we all worked together.. and named it for you ... you see my pic.. you see your potential ... though they grow pretty fast.. they remain trees ... its not like you are going to wake up one day.. and they will have swallowed your garden ... so you have time to contemplate it all ... you dont really have to move stuff out.. in advance.. i would tend to leave it there.. and wait for things to struggle ... or decline.. then worry about moving them out ... 3 feet to the path.. basically means.. within the next 5 years.. they will be nearly covering the path ... i think your first decision.. will be if they are going to stay .. if you look at my pix.. i am pretty sure.. that tree is 10 to 15 feet out.. on EACH SIDE of the trunk ... do you really have that space available in your restricted yard??? there are dwarf trees .. that grow much slower.. relatively speaking.. that would be better suited to a restricted space.. i think you really need to think about removal ... if you dont want to live like a hobbit under the canopy of a 100 foot tree [your age comes in here.. lol .. because i am talking a decade or two down the line ..] and the key for me.. is that right now.. with a good tree saw.. and a ladder.. your trees could be taken down.. for FREE .. by you .. you wait a few years or so.. and you will easily be in the $500 dollar range for removal.. and go up quickly .... let me be very clear.. this is a FOREST TREE ... not some named dwarf variety ... to conceptualize its potential .. i would not be surprised if those extremely large telephone poles are harvested from them [just guessing to make a point] .. this is not really a tree for a small yard ... see link so think about that.. once that decision is made.. just sit back and watch.. its a very sssllloooowww show.. lol .... and react.. in regards to the garden below.. as time dictates.. no need to fixate on this part.. once the decision is made.. good luck.. and let us know what you decide ... removal of large trees.. is NOT a loss.. but a new opportunity for NEW THINGS ... all that said ... i do NOT recommend butchering them.. to maintain that area.. as i am a purist ... meaning things are usually allowed to do what they wish to do ... take them up if you want.. but no two bits and a close shave ... but then.. if future removal is an option.. well butcher away.. and when you start to regret what you have done with them.. then be done with them ... good luck ken Here is a link that might be useful: link

Thanks everyone for all the information. I'll Google all the places you mentioned. I'm in Buffalo NY so the Ohio & Michigan places sound like a closer bet. Mocc, my whole lot is 30x135' I'm putting a new bed between the garages that is about 8' wide by the length of a 2 car garage..It will be tiered in 3 stages with probably the med. in the highest tier, and then s/m next an then smalls.Each tier will be about 5' deep and 8' wide.. Mini's will go in front of the garage 8' x 2' deep. Putting Guacamole, So Sweet and Dream Queen in first tier. Also have space next to the fence about 4'x40', and in back of the house about 24' x 5' deep.Have a lot of space next to the fence on drive side for pots. Don't know how to put pics on the forum yet, but I could send you some via email. Have visions of a great Hosta garden, but my family thinks I've lost my mind to take on such a project at almost 80 yrs. But gardening is what I live for. This spring I ordered a wetland package from the New Hampshire State Forest Nursery. They only sell seasonally so you have to watch their website for availability. Attached is a link to show you what was available this year. They accept mail orders from out of state The wetland package I recieved was 25 shrubs: 5 each of elderberry, arrowwood viburnum, buttonbush, winterberry holly, and swamp rose for $20 plas reasonable shipping. The plants recieved were absolutely beautiful barely budding seedlings 4 to 6 inches high with huge, moist, healthy root systems. The roots showed they were grown in woodland soil, the kind of composted leaf mold. light, fluffy and sweet I wish I had on my land. They were the healthiest plants I bought anywhere and they have done very well considering the drought. Several the elderberry are over 2 feet, highly branched. The New Hampshire state nursery sells wonderful seedlings of trees and shrubs, most of them are native. They are 1-2 year old seedlings and very healthy. You have to buy packs of 10 or more, but they are so cheap, $1-1.50 apiece. They only take orders throughout the winter and ship as soon as soil can be worked in the Spring. Hardy and well-adapted to our colder zones. Incidentally, from what I understand some trees such as Hickorys and many Oaks are difficult to transplant beyond small seedlings because they grow a deep taproot, so you can only plant them as young seedlings.
