I don't want to ruffle any feathers but the plant in the picture looks more like K. marmorata to me, except that marmorata doesn't spawn leaf pups. Though I have seen no variations on it, the K. diagramontiana I know has very plump leaves. ...and after a little searching I think I may have your answer...drumroll... Kalanchoe gastonis-bonnieri! It meets the criteria. I don't have one but the pictures I found look just like yours. Never seen it in a nursery.

It's always tempting with any plant, not just trees, to buy the biggest one which often is a plant left over from last year. I've made that mistake more than once. The advice is to buy the current years offerings to avoid the root bound problem. Sometimes the older root bound plant will grow and thrive, especially if you loosen the roots, but not always. I bought a couple of large Mediterranean palms in 4 or 5 gal. pots for $10 each once and thought I got a bargain. Inside the pots it was just a mass of roots. I loosened them the best I could although the roots were very stiff, and nursed them along for two or three years and the darn things just sulked and never would grow. Oh well, we learn from our mistakes.

Mexican Cream was just on sale at Lowes for $2 a plant... LOL... i bought 2. i had one already which is 10ft tall now and 100 fruit on it.... i think mine is seed grown and not a true variety, but honestly, i think its better than Mex Cream. this is the Lowes $2 plant (repotted to 3gal) this is a root-cutting from my seed-grown Mex Cream / 7gal it has well over a dozen flower on it, and is 3 ft tall. (root cuttings are the best way to propagate them) Mex Cream from seed. - mother tree. green fruit plant to the far left is an Asian Red.... this is a good tasting fruit, but not soft and creamy like the Mex Cream Mexican White (hard - not cream) intertangled with a nitrogen fixer.... ive only had 1 fruit from this tree (its a little bigger now), but i dont care for it. its hard and not sweet. i have 2 more in the ground, and 5 more in containers. (not counting about eight 2-inch tall seedlings) THEN... i have 3 strawberry guava, 1 lemon guava, 2 pineapple guava (Feijoa), 3 Psidium Actangulatum, and a few more... :)

i'm looking for a plant called Spanish Thyme, Cuban Oregano, Indian Borage. any one has it?
