Welcome! I don't own lancifolia, but I think it could be it. It has been used for years in mass plantings.

Being in zone 5 you have so many more options than I do in zone 4. I would add some height and textures, and take out or move some of the hostas. I see it gets some sun, how much sun would be helpful for people trying to recommend plants!

Hi there, Yvette, and welcome! I think Teresa is probably correct, though I don't have any of that one myself.

I'd love to see you put some heigth at the corners, 'Japanese Maple' or a 'Sand Cherry' or 'Nine Bark' Shrub
at those spots would contrast nicely (being plum/burgundy/purplish colors) with any hosta you put in!

Also, I love curved beds. If you would round out at the corners and then curve in, toward the centers between,
I think it would really look nice. At least I'm hoping it would, since that's what I've done recently! LOL

I can not put too much big stuff there, as it is only about 3'ft from the road. Luckily, I have very nice neighbors across the road. I had to back up to into thier yard for the picture of the house. LOL I do get some sun. Before I put the Hostas there I tried Star Gazre lilies, but they did not get enough sun. My Daylilies are doing great thuogh. :) Thank you for the ideas. Now to figure out texture stuff. :)

Hi there...I have a similar looking hosta called "purple dwarf". What are the dimensions of your plant? Mine is quick to multiply and is dark green in colour. Plus, i can't find the name purple dwarf in any of my books, so im probably not much help! l0l

what about a smaller red barberry?

I do want to clean up these Hostas a bit & the others too.
I would like to consolidate some of the bed. These are like the size of car tires! I already have homes for most to go to. My question is... How do I cut divisions from these?
The roots are very solid.

Another question I forgot to add was, Same size Hostas are one each side of my front door. I've been noticing that either my cat or a nieghborhood cat has been spraying by them. Why just my Hostsas & how do I stop it?

For the person with the purple dwarf, Is this what you were looking for? I found this while looking for texture gardening for beginners. I found a list of easy to care for
perrinials. Some of them I already have!

For the texture suggestions? I have some Spirea that are doing really well in some shade in other parts of my yard.
Would that be good as a texture?
