Sorry...I'm just eager to know what they all are! Next time I will post in smaller batches and include a ruler as suggested by another poster in my other thread. Halcyon does fit #5 and #4...since I think I got these both from my dad...planted it different locations. I will move #4 closer to #5 and see if that helps any. I checked the back of the "Undulata Albomarginata". They are glossy! Thanks! As for #9... I'm thinking that and #3 are the same. They are about the same size (you wouldn't know since I didn't include a ruler) and both of these plants came with the property. I'll take better photos and include a ruler and make a new post regarding these ones. Thanks for all the help!

areomarginata mean 'yellow' [which can fade to white..] margin.. it doenst have a margin.. so its not a plant that would be call marginata ??? right now.. i am having a hard time figuring a blue montana ... that would be commonly available ... but that flower is not all that rare ... gorgeous isnt it ... so i am headed toward the sieboldiana/tokudama family or rogue seedling .... ken ps: congrats ont he pix... you are a good student... learn something new every day.. eh???

Hi Jan, Your photos do not have enough detail to identify the hosta. They need to be taken closer to the hosta or at higher resolution and cropped. Your hosta also seem kind of young. Hosta look different and are sometimes harder to identify when young. The photo needs to be close enough to see how many veins the leaf has. It helps to see the back side of the leaf sometimes. It helps to have some kind of "marker" - a ruler, a pen or a soda can so that you can tell how big the leaf is. If you have photos of it blooming, that helps, too. I'm certainly no expert, but the yellow one could be a guacamole, september sun, paradigm, or maybe even a Paul's Glory. (These are just the ones I have that it might be - there are lots more.) The photo is too far away to tell. The Paradigm would probably have some corrugation, the Paul's glory would probably be smaller, my Guacamole has more green on it and just 6 vein pairs, my September sun has 8 vein pairs (they're still young, too). Sometimes, you just don't get an answer. I have one that I've had for years that I've just decided to call Sieboldiana. No one knows what it is, even with photos of the flower, the back of the leaf and lots of vein counts. Keep working on your photos. You're getting there. I've found most of the close up settings are on my camera (I get out the book when I really want to know something). bkay

Ken taught me how to do this, so I'll teach you. (I tend to overdo detail, so forgive the extra verbiage.) I assume you know how to get the pictures on your computer, so I'm just going to tell you how to get them on gardenweb (and in emails when you can't send an attachment). 1. Set up a photobucket.com account - it's free. Just go there, sign up and remember your password. 2. Sign into your photobucket account. Click on "upload images and videos". Your list of files will come up. 3. Navigate to the files you want to share. Click on it. (If you want to upload more than one, hold down the shift key while clicking on them.) The file will then be uploaded to photobucket. 4. Your photo(s) will come up. you can add names and descriptions here. Click "save". 5. Your photos will come up on a page titled "in this album". 6. Click on the photo. It will come up in a new window. On the left-hand side of the page is a box with a bunch of stuff in it. Click on "HTML Code". A little yellow box comes up saying "copied". 7. Now, go to your gardenweb post and wherever you want the photo, just hit CTRL and V keys at the same time and a bunch of gibberish will paste to your message. (If not, you did not get the HTML code copied and pasted to your post - do it again.) 8. On gardenweb, hit the "preview message" button and you'll see your photo. While writing this tutorial, I walked through the process I use. There are many more ways to do it, I'm sure. There are lots more photo sites other than photobucket. I'm just telling you how I do it. bkay
