While I am not a serious hosta collector like everyone on this site I do collect a lot of different plants and I do dig out and give away old, boring, or no longer favorite plants to give away. Some even go to the compost bin. All my gardening friends are online not local. DH won't let me dig up the lawn. I've been fighting with him over it for about ten years. I am out of space except for some tiny areas under shrubs where I am planting mini hostas now that I've finally learned how to keep them alive here but in general I'm out of room. I do have stuff in pots on the patio, deck and side gravel patio too. I always have a lot of purchased plants not planted because I had to buy them but have no where to plant them.

Disclaimer - to new hosta forum members - Phil (love your passion and enthusiasm) trots out this plant annually to proclaim his .... gardening independence and to stir the pot. There is no upside to keeping an HVX infected plant in your collection - it won't get better. At best, you can hope it stays isolated and won't affect any other hostas in your collection. If you have an infected plant, don't save it as an oddity - dig it up put it in the trash - dirt and all and plant a non-hosta in its hole. Then clean/decontaminate your tools. Decontamination per AHS - "All tested methods of decontamination household detergent (Dawn), 70% alcohol and 10% solution of household bleachÂwere effective in eliminating infectivity of the virus. The decontamination process included intense scrubbing and cleaning of tools, hands, and pots to remove plant material, soil and sap. Viral material was visibly dislodged. Compare to Blue Angel. Can you show us a closer view of the leaves. Here's a closeup. i thought of blue angel ... but would expect it to be much bigger in 10 plus years It's been pretty much the same size the entire 10 years, in fact, some years it's looked smaller than the year before. It's not in a great location, as it's in hard, packed down soil, and surrounded by tree roots. So maybe some of that has prevented it from getting bigger. compare flowers at library ... but note one seems to have white flowers.. and one tinged purple For the longest while, I thought the flowers were white. Then I realized there was a purple tinge. This year, however, there's a definitely purple to them. Maybe because it's getting more sun? I thought Blue Angel at first, but BA has a white flower that is very distinctive when it emerges. It loo like a star at on point. Here's a closeup of the flowers as they were just emerging.

I forgot, I have a Bedazzled: Not as white edge as nhl’s though. nhl, does your Bedazzled received sun?? Mine is in shade and the edge stays yellow. Adore your Blue Cadet!! sandy, all of your hostas are terrific, but your Blue Umbrella is really outstanding! Thanks for the encouragement on Brother Stephen…….as you can see, my first year BS is pretty pathetic……. got burned bad, so hopefully this summer it will harden up a bit. steve, your Ben Vernooij is lovely, as is everyone’s……. but I have a question…….BV looks so much like Autumn Frost……..
