Hmmm...'handy websites', 'looking for a url', something like that

Since reading the "Minnesota winter seed sowing" post, I have been searching and searching for a website I used last year. I think I reached it through a link in the MN forum, although I'm not positive about that. It was a site where you could plug in your last frost date in spring along with the current (or any other) date and it would give you lists of seeds you should start that week. It also included a list of plants for which it was the 'last' week you should be starting them. Stuff like that. I found it very helpful last year. And I just can NOT find it again. I've searched through my 'favorites' gardening section a couple of times. I've done google searches. Needless to say, that one is becoming a bit frustrating.

BUT, I've found some other interesting sites during my Google searches and thought I might pass along a couple of them.

I think I know the one you mean, Joyce, and I believe I got an error from the bookmark where I expected to find it, so perhaps the site moved.

In the meantime, Victory Seeds has a handy planting guide for vegetable seeds that I check from time to time. They have other links for info that are worth checking too, like first/last frost dates for various cities.

I have seen Candice Olsen on HGTV use this many times in her remodels. I really like the overall look and how small the boxes can be and would love to get opinions from people that have one. hmm that's weird. when I try to select a nickel finish, it's not a clickable option. I googled Hinkley Knickerbocker in nickel or in chrome and the same brass one shows up. Anyone know whether all their fixtures could be ordered in any of their finishes or do only certain fixtures come in certain finishes?

On IE, my pull down retains web pages visited last...maybe if you haven't surfed much since then, it may still be there. Maybe you can google some of the keywords you do remember?? Did you print anything from the site you're looking for? The name of the site will print on the page. When I just do a copy and paste from a site into WP, I always also copy and paste the url at the bottom of my page so I know later on where I got the info.

There are those casting resins used to embedd things like rattlesnake heads in belt buckles. they are expensive in large quantities. I tried using the acrylic stuff sold at craft stores for folks to fake 'water' in their dried or silk flower bouquet - doesn't cure perfectly clear if done outside. My project turned milky. None of its cheap.

I know that the Tom Clothier web site has alot of information and also perhaps the Gardens North Catelog. I got this info from another forumn on seed starting in the Far North. HOpe that is some help.

Thanks everybody! I bookmarked all of your suggestions.... and then tonight, UNBELIEVABLE, I was looking for seed starting directions for the asparagus seed that I brought home from the swap, and I found the one I was looking for to start with.

It's on the Weekend Gardener website and it is really neat. If you haven't seen this before, try it...

Odd thing though... it didn't seem to be working. Until I tried putting in year of 2005 instead of 2006. Kind of quirky but that will make it return plant lists.

I am still searching for a comprehensive list of transplant dates. That would be something I could use to determine when to start seeds indoors for optimal growth needed before it is time to plant outdoors in the garden- (not too much/long , not too little/short). It seems I had better luck at finding that info last year.....
