Thanks https://www.houzz.co.uk/user/gardengal48 I was trying to find this sort of information on the web when this 'article' (which appears not really as a post but as if Houzz had had it authored) came up. Something like 3rd in my organic search and one of very few which actually addressed the topic. I would think that the Taxonomists removed plants and gave them new new names to imply that they are more closely related to each other than the rest of the Dicentra. What upsets a lot of amateurs and even professional Gardeners and Horticulturists is that the only plant they knew as Dicentra was amongst those removed. I wonder how it would have been if they had removed all but Dicentra spectabilis and re-named those instead? Dicentra formosa is in fact a more garden worthy plant in my opinion because it flowers much longer and does not need support.

a2zmom - I have bleeding heart/Dicentra spectabilis, both 'Alba' (white) & the common pink form growing in my garden. The pink plants grow here (& self seed) no matter what the conditions, in everything from full-sun to full-shade so I'd guess they're tough as nails. My DIL has one in full shade that's closer to the size of a mature rhododendron than a medium-size perennial. My own D. spectabilis 'Alba' is growing in full shade in my hosta bed, surrounded by Carex/Japanese sedge 'Ice Dance' as well as hosta, Japanese painted fern, Tricyrtis hirta/toad lily, columbine, hellebore, Cimicifuga racemosa/black snakeroot, astilbe & other shade lovers. Once the BH goes dormant, there are lots of other things that conceal the dying foliage. happygardener_2006 - I've never bothered to cut back the foliage on my BH plants since it dies back naturally on its own. If you need to move the plant, just do it later in the season when conditions aren't so hot/dry. Spring & fall are generally the best times to move things--those that bloom in spring should be moved in fall so they have time to acclimate to their new location before bloom season rolls around again.

I find this thread discouraging. I started using Charlie's Soap due to recommendations on this forum, but the vehemence of the opinions here is hard to figure?! Does anyone consider why they have such strong opinions about laundry detergent? Or whether they feel these strongly worded comments are actually helpful to the forum? Clearly, some of the difference with results has to have something to do with the difference in water from one community to another. Hard water, soft water, heavily treated water have to make a big difference in how a detergent works. I have seen a few comments here that point out the basic reasoning that many people had in using Charlie's soap, but it bears repeating. Using a detergent that has fewer harsh chemicals and less negative effect on the environment and the water supply. And the second big reason was trying to escape the overabundance of products that cause reactions to the skin from who knows what ingredients. What I want to use as a laundry detergent, is a product that cleans clothes well but is made from natural ingredients that do not affect the water supply or the environment. And definitely, a product that rinses completely out of the clothes so that there is no residue to sit on the skin and either provoke a reaction or be absorbed into the body. It would be more helpful to me, to read comments from someone who actually knows and understands what is in these competing products and what affect they have on not just cleaning the clothes, but do they affect the environment and do they leave a residue that can cause a problem for the skin? And I'm also trying to avoid fragrances. I really dislike them across the board, unless they are natural fragrances, as in coming from essential oils or something. I don't wear perfume and I find it difficult to spend time in a room with someone who does wear it. Bottom line - this thread did not help me figure out which detergent is going to help me have the laundry experience I am looking for.

Congratulations! It definitely sounds like a win-win for everyone. "I am running the gambit emotionally over the move. Sometimes I am elated, other times I feel anxious, or, worried, or stressed, or defeated. I know it's the best thing and that I will be happy." All very normal feelings under the circumstances. Moving is always a very stressful situation. Just take your time, and take care of yourself first! Get the rest you need and don't push yourself too hard. It will all work out in the end. And it will be wonderful once you are settled in your new place, your dog with you and you with your family. Rusty
