TREES11 Japanese Maples for Breathtaking Color and Form
With such a wide range to choose from, there’s a beautiful Japanese maple to suit almost any setting
Full StoryHello, we have a wonderful Katsura Maple that has thrived over this past particularly harsh winter, and unfortunately two Coral Barks that did not and had to be removed (three quarters of the coral bark's branches were black/grey and dead despite being wrapped in burlap to protect from wind damage). Location is sunny and can be windy at times. All three tress were planted in the spring of 2013.
We would like to replace the two maples with either Shindeshojo or Fireglow (we really like the colour changes with the Shindeshojo and much prefer the colouring of the Fireglow compared with the Bloodgood), but are worried about getting to the spring of 2015 and seeing a similar result to the coral barks. Should we just stay away from the Japanese Maples altogether? The trees we are looking at are around about 5-6 feet tall at the nursery. We live in the Toronto area.
Thanks for any insight you can offer.
