Rooting hormone

For the third time in as many weeks, I've given what looked like dying leaves a tug to pull them off, only to find myself holding an eye with a root or two attached that pulled loose. Not sure what causes that, the rest of the plant seems to be firmly rooted.

So I took the piece, (Stained Glass) with its one or two small roots, dipped it in rooting hormone and stuck it into the ground. The first two, an August Moon and a Honeybells, that received that treatment are firmly rooted in 3 weeks and putting up new leaves. I had a piece of Sugar and Cream like that, stuck it in the ground with no rooting hormone, and it promptly died. I'm a great believer in that stuff!
