Hosta *Portraits* from my garden! Pix Intensive!

I found myself sorting through my pix and finding what I call 'portraits' of some of my favorites,

and I'd like to share some of them with you, if you're interested!!

You know, these pix seem awfully large--please let me know if you think I need to resize them--and I

surely will!

'Royal Flush' is a baby this year but I can't wait to see it all *growed* up:

A few of the couple of 'Rascals' I have! This is a plant of very subtle charm:

This is 'Gunsmoke' a pretty neat hosta:



I guess most of the pix don't need my commentary so here is 'Paradigm' and the rest may be obviously identified

on the pix:

Well, I guess this one needs some explanation--'Pineapple Upside Down Cake' at the top in the pot,

with 'Pizzazz' to the left and 'Summer Breeze' to the right:

You know, I think I'll stop for tonight (I have lots more) but I want to find out if anyone thinks these pix

are too large for your monitors! Please let me know--okay?

I've linked over to the gallery, for some more recent pix of my garden, since some of you have been

kind enough to urge me to post more of them!

I love the photography ALMOST as much as I love the *subjects* of most of my photography!

    As usual, folks in our 'community' are always very generous with encouragement and complimentary words. We do like to spur
    one another on to keep on doing what we love so much--grow hosta!!!

    Thank you, for helping me appreciate the gift of hosta--a plant, that makes my heart sing!!!

    Now--I'll keep going with more pix, since I know that the size hasn't been a problem for anyone, and hopefully you would
    tell me if it were a problem. I can easily resize them if they do prove to be a problem down the road! :o)

    'Guardian Angel' and 'Sunpower' are biggies that stand guard over my 'not so secret' Secret Garden
    which needs some more working on till I'm happy with it:

    Two pix of 'Powder Blue', the first in May and the second at the end of June! When I purchased
    this one, I thought I might not like it that much but I find I really do!! It gets better
    every year and has a very lovely shade of turquoise--ness and I like the shape:

    I really like 'First Frost', and I haven't really been a fan of the 'white' margins in the past but the combination with 'blue''
    is just irresistable, I think:

    I am REALLY loving 'Satisfaction' another one I had my doubts about. I got this one last year, a nice large pot of it but the
    leaves were about the size of my hand--this year--I was very pleasantly 'shocked' to see how those leaves
    leaped to the size they are now! Wow!!!

    I really like the combination pic. of 'Carnival' and 'Satisfaction':

    'Blue Umbrellas' is one I've had for more than 6 years, I believe and it took awhile for it to really get going but
    it's doing very well for me these past few years:

    Have I mentioned , before, that I LOVE 'Jewel of the Nile' coming or going? Yeah--I have--so many times
    I know you're probably tired of my obsessive photographing of it! LOL Day or night--it just beams
    at me with those beautiful harlequin leaves and the substance is very thick and it's habit
    'reaches for the sky' at all times! Yeah--I LOVE IT!!

    'Marilyn Monroe' has really matured very quickly for me. I loved it as an 'infant', maybe even better, but it definitely
    is a vigorous multiplier, even in the pot I have it in!

    Here she is, after I first got her, in '07:

    This one is from last year, before 'up-potting it' and the other after and it really is unique when it blooms:

    This shot is from the end of last month, after I've taken a 3-eye division out of it:

    'Climax' is another one that has really 'leaped' from a nice medium size last year when I first got it, to
    a very large one this year, already! Here it is, last year when I first planted it:

    Here's another shot of 'Paradigm'! It has really taken off from the 3-eyed-tc I got in '05! I really thought it wouldn't make it,
    but like at 'er now!!!

    'August Moon' was my VERY FIRST 'gold' or 'chartreuse' hosta, I ever reluctantly purchased. I was sure I would
    see it as a weak plant, always needing to be fertilized because I just wasn't use to a hosta
    being healthy and being yellow, too! However, it has started me on a love of the golds and this one has served me
    very well, all over my garden. In fact, in a new bed across the front of our house, I have A LOT of them!!

    And then there's 'Stained Glass', everyone's favorite! I've got four plantings of it, now! Paired with 'Queen of the Seas' is
    a good complement, I think!

    Oh, can't leave out 'Sagae'! It's not at it's best this year for me--but here's a pic. from the past:

    And, can't forget some of my favorite shots of my *blues*:

    'Regal Splendor':

    Oh--I almost forgot--I want you to see the up-close shot of the leaf of 'Celestial'--another nice surprise
    for me this year--it's also gotten huge since I planted it last year--note that the leaf is leaning over on
    the edge of a whiskey barrel--to get an idea of the size of it:

    And, last but NEVER LEAST is one of my very favorites:

    Pill bugs or Sow Bugs love to sit on the barrel nearby or the stump on the other side and chew
    on her edges! Grrrrr!!!

    I think I should stop for now!! It's hard to know when to say 'enough' when posting pix--but for NOW--I'll let you rest! :o)
    I hope you have enjoyed 'peeking' at the plantings, as much as I do growing and photographing them!!
    It's really hard to take credit for growing a plant that is SO EASILY grown well!!!

    Hostas are definitely a gift for any gardener, and especially for a 'green horn', like me! :o)
