What the heck happened to my duranta? (pics)
Comments (10)Coffeemom, I thought about that too, but it doesn't smell like anything on the bush or in the soil at all. No dog pee smell. Just weird. The only thing I'm thinking of is our next door neighbor might have "tested" an herbicide sprayer on it. As you can see in the last pic, we are on a zero lot line (that's his car in the driveway on the left) and our garages are literally 2-3 steps from each other. I'm gonna peek over his fence later today and see if he was using an herbicide in his backyard to kill weeds. If I see dead stuff there, then I'll put 2-and-2 together....See MoreWhat the heck happened to my grape jam?!
Comments (9)My jam recovered!!!! It had a miracle cure! I don't know what the heck happened. It's been sitting in my (broken) fridge for a couple days while I dealt with other stuff. I pulled it out today, to throw it in the trash. Just as one last chance, and because I was so sad to lose this jam, I asked a brave friend to take a tiny taste. I was afraid to. He said it was fine, and took a big spoonful -- which I would have stopped him from doing if I had seen him! That was ok too, though. So I tasted one grape worth. Hard to tell with my throat still sore from the other day, but seemed alright. Got another friend to taste it. We all agree it is delicious and non-fatal. So I don't know what the heck happened! The jam had cooked more, in its own heat, after I had my mishap with it and before it was cool enough to go in the fridge. Maybe that fixed it? Or, one of my friends suggested, maybe there was some sort of bug in the bite that messed me up? I would think I would have seen, felt, or tasted a bug, but I guess you never know. Anyway, I am VERY happy to have my grape jam after all. And rather surprised it did not ferment in the 50 degree fridge....See Morewhat happened to my princess lilies
Comments (4)Alstroemeria is a tender bulb/corm. I think it might have not survived the winter, awag. Robin, in NC it will probably do fine in the ground. I don't know how tall it would be in your climate. Google it or post your question in the bulb forum. Someone might be able to assist you there. Good luck....See MoreWhen do oriental hybrid lilies bloom, i have some bulbs in pot outside
Comments (4)Yes - you're right those are buds. They have dried up and aborted. Lots of possibilities. Over or under watered, excess heat or cold. Insufficient light. The environment inside a house is not really optimal for lilies and they are definitely to be regarded as temporary decor while the flower and then need to be put somewhere cool and light. The only way to know if they will grow again is to make sure the medium doesn't dry out completely, be patient and watch....See More- 9 years ago
