And it's not even my biggest, but I like the photo so I wanted to share.

It's Abba Dabba Do (and a sport, Paradise Power, in the background).

And for scale, my three year old son.

I got Abba Dabba this spring and now I know that I will be moving this one to a LARGER area. It looks great--your son too :) I like the blues in the background. More pics! please

Nothing ventured, as they say.... My driveway bed is not doing so well. I had moved my 2011 Blue Angel and Winter Snow out there, and my 2010 S&S, and the 2014 Empress Wu, plus DH's clump of .... the green one with white margins....that lost the white in containers, so I decided to try it planted. Now THAT one is doing fine, but the white margins are rather skimpy. Love Pat died on me, straight out. Wheaton Blue is doing okay but not big. Neither Patriot nor Minuteman returned this year. I ordered another Winter Snow for a pot, because the driveway bed almost killed the one that is there--it and Blue Angel are struggling. Perhaps it is in too dense shade, because the trees shade it, so do the palms and the bamboo. This summer may be my last chance to move S&S into more sun, afternoon sun, but other than not being really big (it dates from 2010), it looks healthy. It gets more sun than any other hosta in that bed. I also ordered another Empress Wu for a container, don't want to have a wimpy Wu when I know what she is capable of doing. As long as I can pay the water bill, I'm putting as many as I can in more sun and keeping them hydrated. In pots, of course. I discovered that lofting the mist above the hosta allows them to be cooled without leading to mold (of course cypress mulch grows some great fungi for me). I have a new maxim which involves not focusing on total shade--if you can alleviate the HEAT of the sunbut not the LIGHT. Watch out for the ones which sunburn, even water won't keep that from happening. But that is with hosta in pots, since sunlight is scarce along the driveway bed.....at least, the part where I planted the hostas. Oh. I got an OBL this spring, because BKay loves it, and now I see that you do too. I know how selective you have to be. Also, the Striptease family are doing well here in containers, and I like Snake Eyes so much I got a second one while I could. Plus Cabaret is lovely, and so is Yellow Polka Dot Bikini, which is growing by leaps and bounds. Also, Erotica is super fast. Guess I better stop, I'm straying from the topic. Sorry about that. My back is killing me, I must stretch out.

Lord have mercy! I have an Abba Dabba Do,and it's slowly fading away,due to it being so dry with no rain for 2 months. I guess I'll have to move it to a better place,off the side of the hill. My Paradise Power is young,from late last year,so I guess I have something to look forward to! Gorgeous plants,and yes,I like the bigguns too!! Phil

The kid is by far the best part of the photo - what an adorable little guy! Oh yea - and the hostas are pretty nice too.

Thanks everyone....

Cute kid? yea, I think my 4 year old daughter is the most beautiful thing on the planet, but when the family's all out and about it's the little redhead boy who gets all the attention!

And more photos? Sure, there will always be more. Any of the "old timers" here might remember that I used to post photos quite a bit - I'll try to get better at doing more now and again.....

Kines - your photos are always so nice. It was you that inspired me to get Jewel of the Nile which just this year decided to put up one of the cool looking eyes.

Anyway, you are usually good for a few shots on the Hosta Alphabet. There is another version going on the gallery right now.

Abba Dabba Do is the largest in my yard, and I measured it yesterday at 63 inches across.

As for Paradise Power, on one of my regular visits to the great display garden at Savory's, I decided to pick one hosta from all those as the most striking. I chose Paradise Power.

They are both Sun Power sports, a vigorous plant in its own right. I measured mine at 55 inches across yesterday.

Love all your photos and add to the request for 'more'!

Just like Alexa, it was your photo of Jewel of the Nile that inspired me to add it to my garden a couple of years ago.

I've gotten many different hostas after seeing a picture posted here on the forum, but your Jewel has been the biggest standout in my mind. If you still have that pic handy, maybe you could post it for all the newer folks that missed it.

My Jewel always takes my breath away. Every leaf is interesting. Don't think it's quite as awesome as yours, but it gets better every year!

Uh oh...got my Paradise Power on the edge of my hosta bed...what to do...what to do? I either gotta move it...or expand the bed to put it in the center!

Oh---I LOVE that little guy!!!! I have a weakness for little guys, since getting 3 grandboys of our own!! Sigh!!!
We had two daughters, and that was exactly what we wanted!! Had no idea what we were missing by not having any boys!
We've got 'em now, indirectly! We think it's the best way, with two living on the street behind us and the other little one,
only 7 mins. away!!!

Oh, and I love the hosta, too!!! My 'Abba Dabba Do' looks great this year--it's 3rd summer--fairly *leaped* for the sky!

I guess I really have to rethink locations, too. It's bad enough that 'Sum and Substance' and 'Haicynthia' are crowded.

I guess I'm going to have to wangle some shade...
