where do you place Moonlight Sonata?

I started mine in an area of my garden that gets a little more light than where I typically would place blue hostas. My intention was to move it. I tried once and found the root system to extensive to move in midsummer. Well, Moonlight Sonata continues to grow and now I have to move it.

I have selected a place in my garden with a north exposure. That means not alot of light in my garden.

What do you think? Any thoughts? I worried that I may go from too much light to not enough light.

Mine is in a very little (as in *no*) directly sun-lit area and is doing just fine! I really need to pull it out
where it can be more easily seen, though! A neat hosta for an all-green one!!!

it is a fragrant hosta ... meaning it has some proclivity towards more light ....

for me.. its more of a grey hosta.. smokey ... not really a blue ...

but i would place it for max flower production ... not in some dark nook

Are you referring to a thermostat? You can take temperature readings at as many locations as you like. Plant level is ideal but as plants grow the upper air temperature is most important for controlling fans, etc. You need to place a thermostat away from doors and also out of your way- they hurt when you bang your head against them. I prefer a central location about 1/3 of the structure length from the main device being controlled and just about as high as I can reach. If you want to use a remote thermometer to measure temperatures at plant level, at eye level and outside the structure at 10 minute intervals you could publish your findings but what really matters is that your plants don't die from frost or cook. Readings in full sun aren't reliable and without any form of air circulation within the structure you might want to be looking for a corner as a possible cold spot. However, with the crops you mention, if they are well established you will only have setbacks in growth with cold temperatures so The excessive heat would be your greatest concern. Since that can change drastically in 15 minutes once the sun shines you likely want to know when any area starts to get above 90F. Much higher you might have some losses.

I shop at multiple stores. Pay day is every other Friday so I that is when I go to Wal-Mart or Smith's (Kroger owned). Every 2 weeks we also get coffee beans at the little mom and pop shop. We go to Sprouts every 2 weeks as their ads overlap on Wednesdays. This is actually getting less frequent as they have not put the bulk things on sale that I want the most as frequently (steel cut oats and short grain brown rice). The bread outlet is a once a month trip. Other stores such as Keller's (for meat), Trader Joe's, the international markets, Vitamin Cottage (for other bulk items), I alternate months. Some things I get through Amazon's subscribe and save and that can vary in frequency. Eggs are mostly from my hens and many of our vegetables come from our garden. Some of the variety in shopping is about the money savings but it is more along the lines of trying to match the quality to a certain price point and meeting my needs of acquiring a diversity of ingredients. Arborio rice at TJ's, quality meat at Keller's, red lentils in bulk at Vitamin Cottage, etc. Part of it is me trying to maintain a well stocked pantry because my moods are fickle and if the pantry has a variety of things, I can cook according to my mood. Pre-planned menus never, ever work for me.

Where do you place the faucet in a 1 and 3/4 sink?

Thanks for the input. I'm scouring the interwebs for photos and it is surprising how many images have no faucets shown at all. It looks like people with the 1 3/4 either put the faucet in the center of the overall width or at the divide. I'm thinking the divide would work best. Then the soap could go to the left in the center of the large bowl? Not sure of the spacing, but I don't use the soap on the veggies, so the left make sense to me, too. Maybe the filtered water dispenser centered on the smaller bowl? Or should it be off to the corner? I'm sure this is one of the 99 million decisions I will not think about after it's made. Well, unless I screw it up, of course! I don't think these come with holes, do they? Or do they have those punch-out areas, I'm not sure what they're called.

I am sort of like Marilyn Sue. I have been to most of the places people mentioned, except Alaska and Hawaii. It is so much trouble to go anywhere, that travel no longer appeals to me. I would, however, like to go back to Tennessee and North Carolina, partly because I love the area, and I have friends and family there. I don't want to go camping though. I get enough nature at home.

That's interesting, ken--the color difference from dark to more light. Mine is much more a DARK shiny
green--slightly bluish I guess! I love it's look! I may have to compromise when I move it--more light but
not so much as to lose the dark look I love--too much, anyway!!

Whew--thank goodness, Andrea! You know how it is with communicating this way--I thought that your signing off
with your name, in the posting after mine where I referred to you as *mink*, after so many previous posts, and not
doing that meant you prefer I stick to the original! :o)

Sometimes I hate this way of chatting--it's so hard to read one another and I wonder how many times I've taken
offense when none has been intended--and then there's the other side where I should have been offended and didn't realize it! LOL
In that case--it's better to be oblivious, I guess!

About names and how people respond to any 'tweaking' of them, my hubby walked up to the father of a little girl at our church
who has taken a *mutual* shine to our 9 yr. old grandson and said, "Aren't you *Abby's* father?" (we're really good friends with
her grandparents) and the father responded, completely straight-faced: "No, I'm not the father of any *Abby* but I do have a
daughter named *Abigail*!" Well, quite natually my husband felt very uncomfortable continuing to try and dialog
with the man who didn't do anything more to make him feel like he possibly was a man of dry-wit and not really offended.

Our grandson calls her *Abby* as do a lot of the kids so we had no idea that it was apparently not appreciated to be calling
her anything but *Abigail*! Sigh!

So--I need to be careful and sure those I like to mess with their handles, are okay with it--so I'm just checking with you *Mink*! ;^))

I like Moonlight Sonata, but it burns here. It also goes down EARLY. The first few years I had it, I thought it was gone for good. It always returns, and what a beauty in the spring.
