Do seed pods reduce next year's blooms?

KayLakeMan

Was glancing through a lily site and noticed the statement that allowing seed pods to form will result in reduced blooming the following year. The advice was to only let a single seed pod form (if any) in order to not affect next year's show.

Allowing for the fact that seed pods do take some of the energy distribution for the plant, should we really worry about this issue or is this a wives tale come to roost.
