The water features were fabulous:

A fountain with a hosta border around it.

In that border I saw:

pots of hosta like this Ripple Effect and,

large hosta like Victory planted in the ground.

Victory leaf.

Heuchera lured me through this door and down a hill.

From the bottom of the hill looking up there is a great view of a stream with Sun Power in the pot on top.

This was the last garden of Fiday's North tour. On the following day, Saturday, I saw 4 more...to be continued

If we did not want to hear something as kids, I always put my hands over my ears and said LALALALALALALA, for as long as it took. Sigh....and that is where I am at this moment. Having updated the index of my garden plants to include the recent spate of hosta orders, yet to arrive, I might add, I have put my hands over my ears (I have excellent hearing down to 1 db) and it sure cramps my style at the computer keyboard. My list of just plants in my garden, by name only, includes 64 different hosta by name. Not counting that I have about 4 plantaginea species and various doubles of others I really liked and did not want to chance being without. I think 64 is a good number to halt at for a few weeks anyway. At least until the late summer plant sales start up again. I might even persuade my DH to go with me on a hosta hunting trip as far north as Strasburg VA, maybe NC, rent a van, come home loaded, by way of IKEA in Atlanta, in case there is a little empty space for some book shelves. Is there a 12 step program for hosta addiction? In my life so far I managed to avoid addiction to tobacco, alcohol, drugs, gambling, whatever, but hosta may be the ruin of me yet. I can see my DH holding an INTERVENTION when he gets back from up north.

Duane...hands down, THE most beautiful specimen and largest Sagae my eyes have beheld! Congratulations! I adore mine ... Last year was a glory year for mine so understandably, I'm impatiently wondering what this year will bring....more n more eyes I hope! It can never be too big. Bragu..lol - but...no food-related comments? (which I now associate with you) you always add the "spice" that fuels good humour. Glad hibernation is over! :-)

Thanks, Faye, you are all heart! HAHA. Something about Regal Splendor reminds me of Sagae, perhaps its that energetic flip of the margin area, but it has a lot of energy IMHO. I like the look, that is certain. Okay, I feel my arm twisted, it goes on the list for maybe a short order that needs beefing out. I still have one to place, with Van Wade. And a make-up order to replace the Sugar Snap that my doxie Dolly ate (and then threw up), from the Solberg new arrivals. And Tepelus, your Praying Hands looks great in that pot with Creeping Jenny and surrounded by orphans. Sure hope it comes back for you.

The theme of the convention was hosta friends and music. The Richard and Donna Priester garden really pulled it all together. They even had a musician playing while we toured the garden. Great combo, gold hosta and gold hakonechloa in containers. Minis in a birdbath This eroding slope was the beginning of their hosta collecting. I wonder how many hostaphiles began by just tryiing to solve a landscaping problem. (DH on the path) Next Richard says he is starting a stump garden. Hostas planted in found stumps. Cool. Thats all. Magnifique, as they say in Paree! Stay-at-homes like me always hope that someone will share their convention experience with us. And this year it is Beverly from Minnesota. Thanks a million, Beverly. When I think of Nashville, I think of The Hermitage. Hope you got there too.

We went to the Hermitage, learned much. We also went to Cheekwood, their botanical gardens. Great fun was also had at the Grand 'Ol Opry. I get tired just thinking about it. But the best part was had on the garden tours. I would have more pictures but 45 min. is not enough time to visit and take pictures.

There are not many hostas on the pictures, it is probably too hot to keep plants in low maintenance. Water features are always so interesting and refreshing to view and hear.

In the Ozark Mountains and nearby Ouchita and other ranges, there are many small freshwater springs that are gorgeous. They are naturally cool looking and beautiful settings for hostas. I'd found a place for sale on low ground with a small creek flowing down to Goodall Hollow on Lake Norfork. It had 5 small springs. I wanted to buy it so badly that it hurt. I will probably regret it until the day I die.

Hostas and flowing water go together like a bacon and eggs.
Hostas and pennywort are a wonderful match. IMO
