Best way to water plants using grow lights??

I'm having problems with mildew on plant leaves. I have wicks in the containers, but the plants seem to take water best by watering from the top. Because I use a mylar hood for lettuce and tomatoes, condensation gets on the hood and the plants get mildew. if I leave the hood open on the sides, the tomatoes complain about not enough light.

What's the best way to water plants that are growing under grow lights?

What you need is a fan to keep air circulating. Fresh air should eliminate mold and mildew problems.

The mylar hood would probably rip to pieces. Maybe, I could water at night, and leave the hood off/with fan to let the plants air out. Then cover them in the morning.

The best solution would be low volume drip tubing and shrub bubblers although it may not be the most economical. You would not need a massive pump to supply the water needed but to run pipe underground with wiring to the valves could become very pricey on 7 acres. If all the areas you want watered are relatively close and not sprawled out this would be the route I would take.

What's the best way/water to use on seedlings.?other than rain.

My own vinegar bottles actually said 6%. I don't like to use rain water on small seedlings because boiling doesn't kill all spores. I'm just careful, maybe too much. Distilled water sounds expensive. I have an almost unlimited supply of purified water, which I use for seedlings, so I have never needed to worry about that. (I have an almost unlimited supply of rain water too ... 14 sun hours in November) Maybe you can acidify your tap water and then dilute it with some distilled water to reduce the salt content? Depends on how many seedlings you have. The fluoride levels in tap water are too low to be harmful to plants. Not much anthropogenic chemicals either, and they are more of concern to us and animals than to our houseplants. No need to buy pure water for that reason, but salt buildup is of course greatly reduced compared to using your tap water. It is also reduced by acidifying the water.

oh my god.. =: i looked at that HTV thing and skimmed through it.. that's so insane having to use a quilt for your 983791827396lb pumpkin and vacuuming ur cabbage!! pretty much everything i've tried to grow has died. i killed the worm farm i had in the 6th grade, my succulents turned red and fell apart, all my ferns shrivelled up within about a week. i think the only thing that actually grew was a carrot that seeded by accident in the middle of our lawn lol @$%#^?*!! my god.. right now, having a pumpkin grow to 2lb would be a notable achievement. what do you have to do to like first off not kill everything you touch, and then make it grow to a completely insane size? =\!!!!

You're welcome. A small PC fan won't hurt the mylar but might move it around a little.
