How long do (Italian) bush beans produce?

anney

I attempted to plant the last of my Italian pole beans purchased three years ago, but only three of them germinated. I had bought a packet of bush Italian beans this year just in case, so I've sowed those to replace the pole version. I sowed a little less than half of them yesterday, and they got a good rain-bath this morning. Maybe they'll germinate quickly.

How long will the bush beans produce? Can I cut them back and hope for a second crop when the first flush has been picked? Or should I uproot the first planting and sow a second one for them to be worth my efforts?
