2nd Year Ordering From Iris Greens

I don't know how many of you are familiar with this mailorder company, but I just wanted to rave about the order I just got in. This was my 2nd year ordering from them and I couldn't be happier. I've ordered about 100 different iris in total now and I'm sure this batch will do just as well as last year's. Most bloomed this spring from last year's purchase and were nothing short of amazing. If they feel the rhizome is small, they will send two. All are labeled and the labels are secure and clear and hold up under snow, rain, etc.

They have great prices and a wonderful selection and included bonuses with your order. The website is easy to negotiate with pictures of all irises. Reasonable shipping too.

It seems like I get an idea..and I have to brood and think about it for weeks. That is part of the fun. I have been thinking I really need to downscale my plans..and when I went outside and really looked at my new rose garden..I have lots of room to grow. Plus I can use pots for more. I have ordered a Mystic Beauty rose, Bolero (for a pot) 2 Double Delights from Roses Unlimited...and I have a Pickering order..I can't even remember what I ordered! I have a Glamis Castle, Parole, Gemini and a Golden Budda to plant. I believe Gemini and Golden Budda are going in pots. I have plans for 2 John Pauls..with maybe a climbing pink and white in between (havent decided yet) I also have a baby Darlow's Enigma that is going to the back of my property. Today I planted some Calla Lillies, and Oriental Lillies near my roses. I have nothing combined in the garden yet to go with the roses. I found a really cool orange Calla that I planted with my Vavoom..I don't know how this is all going to work..but that's the fun right? Oh yah..I bought 3 ceramic pots today for the Double Delights. Since they are so picky..I am putting them away from the other roses..so if I need to spray them alot I can. I am trying not to use to many chemicals. This was my way to get fragrance in my garden. I have to try and pick easier roses to grow..and I don't always get fragrance.

Thinman, different clematis will react differently in various gardens. The fact that it is still green and alive is a good thing and clematis will often take a rest before shooting out more vines. Just realize that clematis need time to get acclimated and their roots settled. When that is happening very little top growth will occur. The fact that you planted a small plant that had evidently been through quite an ordeal when it arrived was evidenced by the fact that the chlorphyll had gone out of the plant and that is why it was white. This probably set the plant back and then planting the small plant directly in the garden probably just gave it a double setback. Just be patient, keep the plant watered and fertilized and in time, it will grow like it should.

Hello again everyone! Soooooo sorry that it has taken so long to post and send my swap! My computer monitor died, the washing machine broke, and the expensive and hard to replace tension spring on my garage door broke as well! Not to mention 2 of my best friends in life just both split from thier husbands due to very sad and unfortunate reasons. And then received word that another dear friend has stage 3 bone cancer and is suddenly taking very serious radiation! Oh..... and sadly my 18 year old son who we have been having problems with has been living on his own for a few months and now has went from 2 jobs to none, he's down to 113 pounds, took up smoking among other things, is being evicted, stuck me with a car to pay for since it is in my name and has not been making payments for 2 months unannounced to me, and now it has been brought to my attention he married the girl he's been living with who coincidently enables him to be just how he is being. And I was not supposed to know about the marriage. Life has been very trying lately! So if any of you have the time and think of it please drop a prayer to the Good Lord on my behalf. Kay -aka- kbugs405- sent me a great box with quite a few different iris I have been wanting but I don't have the list with me as I am not at all organized with everything going on. But I assure you it was a wonderful box of iris and I loved them so much! Thank you so much Kay! I sent out Sherry's -msbernard's- box on Friday the 15th. Tips for grafting with 2nd year wood?

I have had very good luck with wip grafts with older scion wood. If everything else is good, timing and technique I think you will be fine . Top working strong trees was almost 100%. Small rootstock was slightly less effective with old scion, but very adequate. On a very mature crab apple I actually added fruitwood to and got a couple apples on first years grafts, and a couple more on second year grafts. I have high expectations for the upcoming third year. Some of the pundits on this site called bs, but it happened. Go for it you might gain a year or two on fruiting. Conventional small rootstock will not support fruit, but it can be done for sure. My example may have been more luck than brains, because I did not even know it was fruiting wood until I saw the blossoms, and I was a newbie grafter, but I have learned a lot from this sight since.

THANK YOU! PayPal plus I found some of my old iris from 20 yrs ago plus dozens of others that started me to drooling! WOW!

Oh my, I can see now I have to start some new beds in my back gardens and share lots of 'plain' yellow iris to make room in the front driveway bed!

These rhizomes are so clean and pretty I can sit them on the kitchen table and stare at them for hours! Just kidding!(This is easier than planting them!)

I put the iris in the ground FINALLY ( too hot) ! Please note,I recieved my order Aug 3! The rhizomes 'sat' in a a box without the excelsior packing for almost 3 1/2 weeks. They are are so plump & clean ( must be a bleach dip!) not even a dried brown leaf! The fans are stout and freshly snipped!
I am so impressed!

I even wrote Iris Greens a email of KUDOS!

Well, DH be darned, I just placed my third year order from this amazing company. This is my largest order ever! As far as I'm concerned, they have a loyal customer for life! Until I run out of room, that is!

Word must be catching on because for the first time I am seeing lots of irises selling out. Better get 'em fast!

Hi all... I just placed an order with Iris Greens and cannot wait to get them. I too noticed they have sold out of a lot of their supply so I will order sooner next year... Can't beat their prices!

Thanks for having the info here for us.

Question: Do any of you have pictures of your Irises displayed here at GardenWeb or other sites? I would love to see your pictures of any/all that you may care to share. I have absolutely fallen in love with irises, especially the pink ones and and the yellows. I wish I knew if my favorite pink ones are the Beverly Sills (I THINK that is what they are), I ordered/planted quite a few irises two years ago and put those metal label thingys in front of them but the info faded away and I don't really know which is which. Some of the shorter dusty/tannish pinks are not favorites of mine as I like true pure tones of pink...I hope the ones I like ARE the Beverly Sills because I just ordered a LOT more of them over at Irish Greens.

I hope some of you that KNOW irises could take a look at my web page and let me know here if you think they ARE the Beverly Sills... Thanks

Those pink ones look like Bev Sills to me.

I do have pics and I'd be happy to share them with you, but I am at work right now so I would have to do it when I get home.

Hi again... Another question if you don't mind...

How does/do the 'bonus' items/thingy work with this nursery? I placed a large order with them (over $120.00, to ME large..) and they sent me email asking what I wanted as a 'bonus' and to "let them know". I went back to their web page but couldn't find any info on HOW to get my bonus items.

How many/much of a bonus are they talking about and are the number of bonus items based on one's size ($ ammount) of order?

Hi there.

I'm not really sure because they've always just included the bonus without asking me. I've never been disappointed in the bonus though. I would email them back and nicely ask what your choices are. :)

I'll email Iris Greens and ask about bonus... I would prefer having several older names of irises instead of one of this years $50.00 'intros' but I suppose beggars cannot be choosy...
