They do look alot alike to me, as well and that's why I love 'em both!!

I don't have JCC, so I can't compare, but in case it helps, here's my Choo Choo Train. It has grown very big very fast. In three or four years, it is significantly bigger than the 8 year old Sum and Substance growing next to it.....

Jimmy Crack Corn tends to grow sort of "flat" while Choo Choo Train will tend to grow more mounding.

I'll check flowers tomorrow to see if those are significantly different, but if memory serves right JCC will be more white than CCT that will be pale lavender.

If it is CCT the final mature size will be a bit larger.

And I'd trust the buried label more than a stuck-in label.

I have JCC, and love its golden glow, as does DH. However, I'd love to have Sea Gulf Stream as well - colour, leaf shape, and vein detail are all quite different, it's a spectacular alternative to the ones you're asking about.

I can never tell the difference between Sea Gulf Stream and Jimmy Crack Corn. In my book, these two are look-alike.
...and then there are Squash Casserole, Choo Choo Train, Lime Piecrust....Boy O Boy ...I find it hard to differentiate these also.

Still confused, but hoping I may have found a possible tie breaker...According to Davesgarden, JCC has 12-15 vein pairs. I could not find a listing on that site for CCT, nor could I find any info on vein pairs elsewhere. Any one with CCT who feels like going outside and counting? As one of my friends would say "Only you would do this!"

I'll add to the confusion. Lemke's database at hostalibrary.org says Choo Choo has 17 pairs of veins. (note: The links for CCT and Chopsticks have been transposed)
The vein count isn't given for JCC.

I bought JCC in 2005 by mail order, not happy with it or several other hostas from that place. It was small, slow growing, and is only now of decent size.

I bought CCT from Hallson's last year, a much better plant in terms of original size and growth rate.

Each one has 11 veins. They are far from mature, and perhaps the vein count goes up along with mature leaf size. That would make sense. At any rate, I can't help with an accurate vein count.

However, my Choo Choo seems to have slightly more heart-shaped leaves, and the Jimmy has longer leaves. But, once again, my plants aren't mature, and leaf shape often does change with maturity.

Thanks to all for your help! I guess that either way I should end up with a great hosta when it's bigger. I counted my vein pairs. This little 8 leaved baby has 10-11 per leaf. BTW, Bunnycat, I do not live in Brockport, just love to shop at Sara's, LOL! I live in Greece, but when I get out towards your end of the county...I go the extra couple of feet into Wayne County and visit Wayside Garden Center on rt. 31. HOSTA HEAVEN!
