Latest Garden Pics

Below are a few photos of the newest garden that I put in. It is in the shape of a lima bean and contains about 70 Hosta. It should look great in a few years. I still need to edge it as well.

There are also a few pics of the kids.

I like your "kids" a lot! Two of my favorites, hostas and dogs. They look like really good dogs that stay out of the hosta beds.

Your "kids" look so calm and sedated. Just the type of "kid" i've been looking for.

Nice garden Daniel. 70 hosta??!!?? You do realize that in a few years you may have to remove one or two due to overcrowding...;-)

Ahhh, you forgot the forget me nots:) The volunteer violas. They're still out there struggling in the heat, it's 106 again today. I'll do that though to get it to spread more in the spring, my own seeds..I think it'll all germinate on it's own though with fall and the breeze blowing the seeds all through there. Well maybe that's all the cost of the seeds was, I thought it was a lot for a few seeds. Actually on the soil it's a lot to do with the mulch I put out several inches thick. Instead of encouraging all the weeds, it's working down pretty well with the clay soil. I hope I can afford to buy some more in Oct for winter. That and I need some stepping stones through out the large garden. Nothing fancy, just some bricks. I think that will be my craft this fall/winter is making some of my own. I still have a few daylilies blooming here and there. I need to find out which they are and get some more of these repeat bloomers. I'm afraid to walk into Lowe's, at 106 there is nothing I can do right now. I'm having a tough time with what I have now in pots I don't need temptation, I'd be as tempted as Pat:)

very nice work. for my own garden, I actually screw the fixture to the ceiling, and then suspend the reinforced plywood base, by chains. so I get to keep my floor space. as the plants grow, i keep letting out links from the chain.

Yes, there are 70 in that garden alone and I have 10 in the garden at the side of the house. We moved in in December and I am trying to make the yard and house look great. The scary part is that this is my first year for Hosta - imagine how many more I will have in a few years. It is addicting! I have several more gardens planned. So, we'll see what happens.
The dogs know to stay out of the gardens and are very good and obedient. We are breeding Jinjur to a boy in Belgium in the fall and will have a litter of pups then. I'm looing forward to a third pup for me.

Great idea on the Lima bean shape (I might copy that idea in my own yard someday)! Wow 70 Hosta's!

Jeez I only have 70ish in my whole yard after three years of collecting. I have a long way to catch up with you guys!

Wow. . nice job Daniel! Whats the big hosta in front of the tree in the third pic? Now if you were my brother I would make you give me a piece of everyone of those hosta before you planted them. . lol
Your babies are soooooo cute!! Looks like they enjoy being out with you while you garden.

Feed dogs or buy hostas, feed dogs or buy hostas??!!?? That will be your problem if you don't slow down. LOL

The large Hosta in the third photo is one that Chris from Hallson's sent. I was hocked to open the box and see this huge Hosta in there It is Sum it Up. I can't wait to see how large it will get as it is already pretty big.
